Land Rover Defender 130 Extended Dimensions & Boot Space
The Land Rover Defender 130 takes the already long Defender 110 and stretches it by an extra 340mm (all past the B-Pillar) to 5,358mm which makes it 100mm longer than the flagship Range Rover SUV with 7 seats.
The massive size of the new Land Rover Defender 130 meant that Land Rover was able to fit another row of seats into the SUV. The new row of seats takes the seating capacity of the Defender 130 to 8 people. The Defender 130 will be sold as an eight seater by default. For owners, deleting the extra row of seats at the back is a no cost option.
Despite the extra row of seats at the back, the Defender 130 can carry up to 389-litres of luggage with all three rows up. This can be extended to a massive 2,291 litres with the second and third rows folded down. In the five seater version of the Defender 130 the boot space rises to 2,516 litres with the second row of seats folded down.
The Land Rover Defender 130 allows for 430mm of articulation. The Defender 130 can wade into 900mm of water and has a ground clearance of 290 metres. The departure angle for the Defender 130 is 28.5 degrees, which is 11.5 degrees less than that of the 110 variant.
The Defender 130 has a maximum payload capacity of 750kg in 8-seater mode which rises by 50kg when the last row of seats is deleted. The SUV can tow a load of up to 3,000 kilos.
Land Rover Defender 130 Engine Specs & Transmission
The new Defender 130 by Land Rover is being offered in four guises (2 petrol and 2 diesel) when it comes to what's under the bonnet, all of which feature a 48V Belt-integrated Starter Generator (BiSG) that harvests energy normally lost under braking and deceleration.
The P400 is the current range topper of the new Defender 130 lineup and its uses the same engine as the P300 but in a higher state of tune. The P400's engine produces 395bhp and 550Nm of peak torque. THe P400 will sprint from 0-100 in 6.6 seconds.
The two diesel engines use a 3.0-lire straight six turbocharged engine that produces 247bhp and 600Nm in the D250 version of the Land Rover Defender 130. The D250 will sprint from 0-100km/h in 8.9 seconds.
In the more powerful D300, the engine cranks out 296bhp and 650Nm of peak torque which is enough for a 0-100km/h time of 7.5 seconds.
All versions of the Land Rover Defender 130 are offered with an automatic gearbox and all-wheel drive.

The Land Rover Defender 130 comes packed with a host of features. These include the larger 11.4-inch Pivi Pro touchscreen infotainment display that is reserved for the V8 versions of the Defender 90 and 110. The Defender 130 gets a two sun roofs and the final row of seats can be optioned with heating and those in the last row get padded armrests and USB-C charging ports.
