Hyundai Tucson India Launch Details Revealed
South Korean carmaker Hyundai has confirmed that the new Tucson SUV will be launched in India. The new Hyundai Tucson will be launched in the second half of 2022.
South Korean carmaker Hyundai has confirmed that the new Tucson SUV will be launched in India. The new Hyundai Tucson will be launched in the second half of 2022.
The all-new Hyundai Tucson (fourth-generation codenamed NX4) was revealed way back in 2020 and will be the carmaker's flagship internal combustion engine car for India. The Ioniq 5 EV will be Hyundai's proper flagship for the Indian market.
The images of the Tucson spec for India do seem to imply that we will be getting the long-wheelbase version of the SUV. The long-wheelbase version of the Tucson brings more space for the rear seat occupants as well as extra room in the boot which will be appreciated in the Indian market.
The long-wheelbase version of the Hyundai Tucson is 4,670mm long, 1,865mm wide and 1650mm tall. The wheelbase of the LWB Tucson is 2,755mm long. The Hyundai Tucson weighs between 1,491 and 1,700 kilogrammes depending on the powertrain and other options.
In India, the new-gen Hyundai Tucson is expected to arrive with 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol and diesel engines. The 2.0-litre turbo petrol four-cylinder engine produces 154bhp at 6,200rpm and 192Nm of peak torque at 4,500rpm. The engine is offered with either both manual and automatic gearbox options both of which offer 6 forward gears.
The diesel version of the Hyundai Tucson for India is expected to feature a tweaked version of the 2.0-litre, four-cylinder engine that is offered with the outgoing third-gen Tucson model or even the new 186bhp, 417Nm version found in the Tucson sold abroad.
In terms of design, the new Tucson embraces Hyundai's rather unique design with its LED DRLs integrating themselves into the massive front grille which is flanked on either side by the headlights.
At the rear, the Tucson features light bar style taillights that jut out on either side like a set of teeth. The sides of the SUV feature a host of character lines that give them a rather sculpted look and the SUV sports some rather eye-catching alloy wheels.
The interiors of the Hyundai Tucson have been revamped for the new-gen model with a digital driver's display and a large 10.25-inch display with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay support.
Announcing the new Hyundai Tucson for India, Unsoo Kim, MD & CEO, Hyundai Motor India Limited, said, "As India's No. 1 SUV brand of CY2020 and CY2021, Hyundai is geared up to induce customer delight and excitement with the introduction of our global best-seller the all-new Tucson. Hyundai has been the pioneer of many technological firsts and the all-new Tucson is set to thrill SUV buyers with Intelligent Technology, Futuristic Design, Unmatched Safety and Smart Innovations. Tucson has captivated the hearts and minds of customers across the world with over 7 million units sold globally since its launch in 2004. With a bold and dynamic appeal and advanced features, the all-new Tucson will captivate the aspirations of customers in India."
Thoughts On The New Hyundai Tucson
The all-new Hyundai Tucson will be quite a different offering compared to the third-gen SUV with its unique looks and updated interiors. Expect the new Tucson to hit the streets of the country in the second half of this year with prices expected to range between Rs 25 to 30 lakhs.
