Hyundai Motors Sales Report For April 2022
The YoY sales figures for Hyundai Motors dipped slightly in April 2022 as the South Korean automaker is yet to get a good grip on the semiconductor shortage issue. In terms of numbers, Hyundai sold 44,001 units in April 2022, resulting in a YoY sales dip of more than 10 per cent.
Hyundai Creta (12,651 units)
The Hyundai Creta SUV yet again becomes the best selling Hyundai product in India as the South Korean automaker managed to sell 12,651 units in April 2022.
This sales performance has led to a YoY sales increase of 1.5 per cent as the company managed to sell 188 units more last month compared to the previous year's sales figures.
Hyundai Grand i10 Nios (9,123 units)
The Hyundai Grand i10 Nios comes with a wide variety of engine and gearbox options and also comes with top-notch features on the inside. In April 2022, Hyundai managed to sell 9,123 units of its Grand i10 Nios hatchback in India.
However, despite such stellar performance, YoY sales figures have gone down by almost 21 per cent as the automaker managed to sell 11,540 units last year during the same time.

Hyundai Venue (8,392 units)
The Hyundai Venue continued to be a consistent seller for the South Korean automaker in India. In April 2022, Hyundai sold more than 8,000 units of Venue SUV in India. However, YoY sales figures are down by more than 25 per cent.
Looking into numbers, Hyundai sold 8,392 units of its Venue SUV in April 2022. Though a decent number, the automaker sold 2,853 units more in April 2021.
Hyundai i20 (4,707 units)
The Hyundai i20 is a very attractive and feature-packed premium hatchback in India. Apart from that, the premium hatchback also comes with a variety of engine and gearbox options to choose from.
In April 2022, Hyundai managed to sell 4,707 units of the i20 hatchback in India. This has resulted in a YoY sales decline of almost 6 per cent as the company managed to sell more than 5,000 units in April 2021.
Hyundai Aura (4,035 units)
The Hyundai Aura is the sedan version of the Hyundai Grand i10 Nios and comes with identical powertrain options. However, the Aura is a bit more practical due to the additional boot space.
In April 2022, Hyundai sold 4,035 units of Hyundai Aura sedan in India, resulting in YoY sales growth of more than 20 per cent as the company sold just 3,347 units of Aura sedan in April 2021.
Hyundai Alcazar (2,422 units)
The Hyundai Alcazar is the 7-seater variant of the Hyundai Creta and the SUV neatly bridges the gap between Hyundai Creta and Hyundai Tucson.
Despite the model's recent entry into the Indian market, Hyundai managed to sell 2,422 units of Alcazar SUV in April 2022. This is a decent figure considering the market size of this particular segment.
Hyundai Santro (1,793 units)
The Hyundai Santro is the entry-level model of the South Korean automaker in India. Like other Hyundai products, the Hyundai Santro also comes packed to the brim with features.
However, YoY sales growth is low as the company managed to sell just 1,793 units of Santro hatchback in April 2022 compared to 2,683 units sold in April 2021.
Hyundai Verna (781 units)
With new launches in the segment, the sales figures of the Hyundai Verna dwindled as the company managed to sell just 781 units of Verna sedan in India.
In comparison, Hyundai managed to sell more than 2,500 units of Verna sedan in April 2021. This has resulted in a negative YoY sales growth of more than 69 per cent.
Hyundai Kona (50 units)
The Hyundai Kona is the South Korean automaker's only EV in India. Thanks to the recent hike in fuel prices, the YoY sales figures for the EV have gone up by 316 per cent.
In terms of numbers, Hyundai sold 50 units of Kona EVs in India, which is 38 units more than what the company has managed to sell in April 2021.
Hyundai Tucson (47 units)
The Hyundai Tucson is a feature-packed 5-seater SUV and it is the current flagship model of the South Korean automaker in India.
The YoY sales figures for the Hyundai Tucson have gone down by more than 50 per cent as the company managed to sell just 47 units in April 2022. In comparison, Hyundai sold 105 units in April 2021.
Thoughts About Hyundai's Sales Performance In India
In recent times, Hyundai has been struggling to produce cars at full capacity due to the semiconductor shortage and this struggle is clearly visible in sales figures of the South Korean automobile giant.
