In addition to that, Hyundai could also offer the updated Kona EV with a larger 64 kWh lithium-ion battery pack for a longer range compared to the outgoing model which offers an ARAI certified range of 452kms using its 39.2 kWh lithium-ion battery pack.

The current version of the Hyundai Kona EV features a PMSM (Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor) electric motor. This electric motor drives the front wheels and puts out 135bhp of peak power and 395 Nm of peak torque.

Hyundai says that the Kona EV can reach 100km/h from a standstill in just 9.7 seconds and charge from 0-80 per cent battery capacity in less than an hour using a 50 kW DC fast charger. However, the same feat using an AC charger takes a little more than 5 hours.
