South Korean carmaker Hyundai has revealed its June 2022 sales numbers. Hyundai sold a total of 49,001 vehicles in the month of June 2022, which helped it regain the second spot in the automotive sales rankings from Tata Motors.
Hyundai's sales numbers in June 2022 were a 21 per cent gain over the same period last year. Compared to June 2021 when it sold 40,496 units, Hyundai's sales number rose by 21 per cent (8,505 units) Year-over-Year last month.

Hyundai last month launched the facelifted Venue SUV in India. Prices for the new sub-4 metre SUV start at Rs 7.53 lakh and it features a new front fascia inspired by Hyundai's larger SUVs in its international lineup.
The updated Hyundai Venue also brings with it a host of features including 2-step reclining rear seats, and an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay as well as support for voice assistants like Amazon's Alexa and the Android Assistant. The Venue comes packed with over 60 connected car features through Hyundai's Bluelink connected car suite.
Hyundai is also readying its entry for the Indian EV market in the form of the Ioniq 5, which won the World Car of the Year title which was announced at this year's New York Auto Show. The Hyundai Ioniq 5 like its Kia EV6 cousin is based on the Hyundai Motor Group's E-GMP electric car platform which supports 800V charging architecture.
The Hyundai Ioniq 5 is expected to be a more affordable EV offering for the Indian market compared to the Kia EV6. To help keep prices down, the Hyundai Ioniq 5 will be assembled at Hyundai production facility in Tamil Nadu.
Another way to keep costs down may see Hyundai bring the standard range version with its 58kWh battery pack which allows for a range of up to 319 kilometres in all-wheel drive form and 384 kilometres in rear-wheel drive guise. Hyundai is expected to launch the new Ioniq 5 in India sometime in the next two to three months.
Hyundai's E-GMP skateboard platform is also expected to underpin the carmaker's small electric car for the Indian market. While details about the small electric car for India are scarce, the car is a part of Hyundai's investment of Rs 40 billion that will see it bring 6 electric cars into India by 2028, one of which is already here in the form of the Kona EV.
Thoughts On Hyundai's June Sales
Hyundai returned to the second spot on the sales charts after a stellar month of sales that saw it sell just over 49,000 cars in the Indian market. With the recent arrival of the new Venue, Hyundai's sales numbers are expected to continue growing which will hopefully see the carmaker deal with the ever-increasing pressure from Tata Motors for the 2nd spot on the sales charts.
