Speaking to Auto News Europe, Hyundai Motor Europe's marketing chief, Andreas-Christoph Hofmann said that the automaker is working on a battery-powered minicar. However, Hofmann stated that it would take some time for the carmaker to develop a production ready version of the entry-level electric car for Europe.

Hoffman stated that the target starting price for the small electric vehicle would be around 20,000 euros which is also said to be the target price tag for a family of small EVs from VW group brands like Skoda and Volkswagen.

Hoffman also confirmed that Hyundai will be launching 11 more pure electric vehicles in Europe by the year 2030. Hyundai currently sells the Kona Electric and Ioniq 5 battery EVs in the European market along with the Nexo hydrogen fuel cell electric vehicle.

Hyundai recently revealed the Ioniq 6 battery electric vehicle. Hofman stated that Hyundai would be bringing the electric sedan to Europe by the end of the year and that the upcoming Ioniq 7 SUV will also be coming to Europe.

The Ioniq 6 is offered with two battery pack options - 53kWh and 77.4kWh. The Ioniq 6 with the 53kWh battery pack is only offered in single motor rear-wheel drive guise which produces 168bhp and 350Nm of peak torque and allows for a 0-100km/h time of 8.8 seconds. Charging from 10-80 per cent using a DC fast charger takes just 18 minutes.

The single motor version of the Ioniq 6 with the larger 77.4kWh battery pack delivers a range of 610 kilometres while producing 225bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. The dual motor version of the Ioniq 6 produces 321bhp and 605Nm of peak torque and the sedan can sprint from 0-100km/h in just 5.1 seconds.

The Hyundai Ioniq 6 is4,855mm long, 1,880mm wide and 1,495mm tall. The wheelbase of the all-electric Ioniq 6 sedan measures 2,950mm long.
