Five Things You Should Know About The 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid: Generation, Design & More
Toyota has launched the facelifted version of the Camry Hybrid in the country for Rs 41.70 lakh (ex-showroom, India). So, here are five things you should know about the new 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid.
1. Generation
The Toyota "Camry" nameplate was first introduced in 1979 and made its sales debut in January 1980 as the Toyota Celica Camry. In 1982, Toyota introduced the first-generation Toyota Camry and unlike the previously introduced 'Celica Camry', the 1982 Toyota Camry was a front-wheel-drive model.
Coming back to 2022, this is the second update from the Japanese automotive giant for the eighth-generation Toyota Camry since its launch in India back in 2019.
2. Design
Like most facelifts, the 2022 update brings a few cosmetic changes on both inside and out along with a few additional features, and thanks to the latest update, the Toyota Camry Hybrid now looks a bit more sporty and contemporary.
This sportier look is achieved by using a sleeker-looking front grille with less chrome. Apart from that, the updated Toyota Camry Hybrid gets reprofiled front bumpers with larger air intakes.
Moving to the sides, the side profile remains largely similar to the pre-facelift model, however, the update adds a new set of new dual-tone 18-inch alloy wheels for a sportier stance.
Coming to the rear section of the updated 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid, the five-seater hybrid sedan looks a bit more sporty thanks to its darkened inserts on the LED taillamps and a slightly sharper looking rear bumper.
3. Interior & Features
On the inside, the new 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid gets a few more new features as part of the facelift and features-wise, the updated Toyota Camry Hybrid now comes with a new larger 9.0-inch touchscreen infotainment unit with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Apart from that, the new system comes along with a 9-speaker JBL audio system for crisp and clear audio.
Moreover, the new updated 2022 Toyota Camry comes with features such as ventilated front seats with memory function, cruise control, heads-up display, electronic sunroof, three-zone climate control, wireless charging pad, power reclining rear seats, power sunshades for rear passengers and many more.
Thanks to the larger 9.0-inch infotainment, the AC vents at the front are now positioned below the infotainment unit.
4. Safety
Safety-wise, the updated 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid comes with top-tier safety features such as nine airbags, ABS with EBD, ESP, Park Assist with Back Guide Monitor, VSC, TC, tyre pressure monitoring system (TPMS), Hill-Start Assist and many more.
5. Powertrain & Warranty
The updated 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid continues to use the tried-and-tested 2.5-litre 4-cylinder engine. This engine produces178.5bhp and 221Nm of torque, the petrol engine is further assisted by an 88kW electric motor with 202Nm of torque. Combined, this powertrain produces a healthy 215bhp.
Moreover, the Toyota Camry Hybrid also comes with three driving modes - Sport, Eco and Normal.
According to Toyota's official press release, the new Toyota Camry's hybrid battery comes with a warranty of 8 years or 1,60,000 kms. Moreover, Toyota continues to offer 3 Years/1,00,000 kms warranty on the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid as standard.
