Ferrari SP51 Design & Features

The Ferrari SP51 has been designed by Ferrari Styling Centre in Maranello. Unlike 812 GTS convertible supercar which features a folding hard top roof, the SP51 is a true roadster.

The SP51 sports a bespoke set of headlights. Also seen is a carbon fibre wing that stretches between the two flying buttresses visually softened by two deep carbon-fibre scoops. This effect claims Ferrari is reminiscent of a Targa-type car in which the flying bridge elegantly conceals the anti-roll hoop and is a nod to the solution adopted on Ferrari's early-1960s Sports Prototypes.

The Ferrari SP51 also features a custom set of wheels, bespoke to the one-off roadster. These wheels feature carbon-fibre wing profiles on each of the spokes along with a diamond-cut finish on their forward-facing sections.

However, the most striking element about the new Ferrari SP51's exterior is its bespoke paint job. The Ferrari SP51 sports a bespoke Rosso Passionale three-layer red paint scheme. The SP51 also sports a white and blue coloured set of stripes that run down the centre of the front-engined V12 supercar. This blue and white livery was inspired by a 1955 Ferrari 410 S and even extends into the custom interior of this one-off supercar.

The interior of the Ferrari SP51 also features the bespoke Rosso Passionale as the colour for the Alcantara trim which helps extend the exterior livery into the cabin of the one-off supercar. The custom white and blue stripe can be seen on the SP51's central tunnel and the fascia between the two seats on the firewall.

This blue and white theme can also be found on the stitching for the steering wheel. On the door panels and the lower sections of the seats of the bespoke V12 supercar, Ferrari has added a special finish in the form of a blue Kvadrat insert with white cross-stitching. Also seen inside the Ferrari SP51 are quite a few bits of carbon-fibre and many other sections that are finished off in Nero Momo (Black).

The rest of the SP51 - layout, chassis and engine are all taken directly from the 812 GTS convertible supercar with no changes mentioned. This means that Ferrari's sonorous 6.5-litre naturally aspirated V12 engine continues to put out 789bhp at an ear shredding 8,500rpm along with 718Nm of peak torque at 7,000rpm, all of which is sent to the rear wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch gearbox.

The prancing horse brand hasn't revealed the exact details about the owner of its latest One-Off special project, except that he/she is one the owner of one of the leading collectors of Ferraris. This collector is based in the island nation of Taiwan which is where the one-off SP51 will now reside.

Thoughts About The Ferrari SP51

The Ferrari SP51 is another example of the ultimate levels of customization that the Maranello marque offers its most loyal customers. We do however shudder to think that this bespoke prancing horse could end up being a garage queen.
