Ferrari & Qualcomm Announce Strategic Partnership

Italian supercar icon Ferrari has announced a strategic partnership with an American mobile chipset manufacturer Qualcomm. The new partnership will see Qualcomm's Snapdragon logo makes its debut on the upcoming F1-75 Formula One car.

The partnership between Ferrari and San Diego-based Qualcomm sees the Italian marque join other manufacturers like General Motors, Renault, Honda and Volvo in tying up with the American smartphone chip giant. As per the terms of the partnership between the two companies, Qualcomm will serve as Ferrari's systems solutions provider for its upcoming road cars. Qualcomm will also serve as a 'Premium Partner' for the Scuderia Ferrari Formula 1 team and the Ferrari eSports team.

Ferrari & Qualcomm Announce Strategic Partnership

Speaking about the new 'strategic partnership' between the two companies, Ferrari CEO Benedetto Vigna said, "We believe innovation requires market leaders working together. Thanks to this agreement with Qualcomm Technologies, we expand our knowledge in digital technologies and web 3.0, areas with great potential for automotive and motorsport. We believe valuable partnerships, and a distinctive Ferrari interpretation, ultimately enhance product excellence."

Cristiano Amon, President and CEO of Qualcomm Incorporated added, "We are excited to see our automotive technology leadership play an integral role in this new strategic relationship with Ferrari. We look forward to helping shape what the future holds as we work together to bring world-class driving experiences to their customers through our Snapdragon Digital Chassis."

The Snapdragon Digital Chassis encompasses all of Qualcomm's automotive offerings in both software and hardware. These include Snapdragon Car-to-Cloud - a software and services platform that aims to enable automakers to develop new revenue streams. Other offerings include ADAS and automated driving systems as part of the company's Snapdragon Ride offering, 4G, 5G, wi-fi, Bluetooth and GPS with Snapdragon Auto Connectivity and Snapdragon Cockpit a platform that drives the in-vehicle user experience including infotainment, gauges and visualization.

The partnership between Qualcomm and Ferrari will see the former work with the Italian marque to design, develop and integrate Ferrari's digital cockpits.

The new partnership comes just before the launch of the Scuderia's new Formula One challenger later this month. The new Scuderia Formula One car will bear the F1-75 name. The Ferrari Scuderia F1 team claims that the '75' designation of its new F1 challenger marks the anniversary of Ferrari's first production car — the 125 S — leaving the factory in March 1947.

Ferrari & Qualcomm Announce Strategic Partnership

The new Ferrari F1-75 will showcase the changes brought about by the overhaul of F1's rules and the Maranello team hope that its newest prancing horse for the world's premier single-seater racing series will allow it to challenge Mercedes and Red Bull this year. The prancing horse last year finished third in the F1 constructor's championship in 2021 with Charles Leclerc and Carlos Sainz at the wheel.

Thoughts On Ferrari's Partnership with Qualcomm

Ferrari's new partnership with Qualcomm will help the iconic prancing horse brand futureproof its next set of cars. Let's hope the new tech developed by the partnership is as cool as the cars that leave Ferrari's Maranello headquarters.
