Everything You Need To Know About The 2023 Toyota Innova Hycross
Toyota could be gearing up to launch the Innova Hycross in India and here is everything you need to know about the upcoming MUV from the Japanese automaker. Apart from that, there are strong rumours about Toyota planning to debut the Innova Hycross at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023 held in January.
Speaking about the rumours surrounding the Toyota Innova Hycross, it is worth mentioning that Toyota has stopped accepting bookings for the diesel variant of the Toyota Innova Crysta. Also, many reports have now surfaced stating that the diesel engine in the Toyota Innova Crysta has failed emission testing in the country.
Despite, the lack of diesel variants, Toyota still needs to keep up the sales of the Toyota Innova Crysta. For this, Toyota has now launched a limited edition variant of the Innova Crysta MUV based on the petrol variant. This limited edition Toyota Innova Crysta model is based on the mid-spec GX version and it gets a lot more accessories as standard.
However, Toyota very well knows that it cannot achieve similar sales figures with the petrol-only variants of the Innova Crysta as fuel economy is a major concern in India. This is especially true when petrol prices hover above the 3-digit mark.
Under such circumstances, it is the ideal choice for Toyota to introduce the newer iteration of the Innova to the Indian market. Now, as per the latest reports, Toyota is gearing up to launch the fourth generation Innova, christened the "INNOVA HYCROSS", and the latest model could make its debut at the upcoming Auto Expo 2023 held in January.
Speaking about the Toyota Innova Hycross, Toyota has already registered the name "INNOVA HYCROSS" in India. Moreover, the upcoming MUV has been spied testing several times near the company's manufacturing plant in Bangalore.
Apart from that, it is also reported that the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross MUV will no longer use the truck-like body-on-frame ladder chassis. Instead, the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross MUV is said to utilise the automaker's monocoque architecture based on the TNGA-C platform and also sport a hybrid powertrain as well.
Thanks to this new monocoque structure, the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross MUV is said to be lighter yet slightly bigger than the already spacious Toyota Innova Crysta. Apart from that, the upcoming Toyota Innova Hycross MUV is said to be equipped with Advanced Driver Assistance Systems (ADAS).
Though nothing related to the powertrain has been confirmed, the 2023 Toyota Innova Hycross MUV is likely to be sold with both petrol and hybrid powertrain options in India. Thanks to the petrol-only option, the starting price of the upcoming Innova Hycross could be welcoming a larger section of customers.
we expect petrol-only Innova Hycross models to be powered by the same powertrain as in the outgoing Innova Crysta MUV. This engine in the outgoing Innova Crysta MUV is a 2.7-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated engine with 164bhp of peak power and 245Nm of peak torque. Moreover, the Toyota Innova Crysta equipped with this engine has an ARAI-certified mileage of 10.75km/l for the automatic variant.
Coming to the hybrid powertrain, Toyota is likely to use the tried-and-tested 2.5-litre Atkinson Cycle, Hybrid powertrain from the Toyota Camry sedan. This 2.5-litre, 4-cylinder, naturally-aspirated, Atkinson Cycle engine in the 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid sedan produces a peak power of 175.5bhp. However, this engine is further boosted by a 160kW electric motor. In combined form, this powertrain produces 215bhp of peak power.
Also, the 2023 Innova Hycross MUV is highly likely to sport Toyota Safety Sense (TSS). This safety net comprises of features such as Adaptive Cruise Control, Lane-Keep Assist, Auto Emergency Braking, Blind-Spot monitoring and more.
In terms of features, the upcoming 2023 Toyota Innova Hycross MUV is expected to come with features such as a sunroof, a larger infotainment unit with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, connected car tech and much more.
Thoughts About The Upcoming 2023 Toyota Innova Hycross
The success of the 2023 Toyota Innova Hycross will highly influence the automaker's future products in the country and the model could be classified as a crucial product for Toyota in India and international markets.
