Commercial Vehicle Sales February 2022: Overall Positive Growth
Commercial vehicle sales have witnessed an overall positive growth in February 2022 and Tata Motors yet again leads the way in terms of volumes.
This positive YoY was achieved despite the pandemic related restrictions, recent semiconductor shortage and slow automobile sales.
Looking into numbers, it is Tata Motors that yet again leads the sales chart by selling 27,500 units of commercial vehicles in February 2022, which is more than 2,663 units sold during the same time last year - resulting in YoY sales growth of more than 10 per cent.
Mahindra's sales performance in terms of YoY sales was even better as the growth rate stood at more than 16 per cent. However, it was not enough to claim the top spot as the Pune-based automaker could only manage 14,038 units in February, which is 1,996 units more than what the company had achieved last year during the same time.
Ashok Leyland also performed exceptionally well and held on to the third spot by selling 9,602 units in February 2022. In comparison, the Hosur-based commercial vehicle manufacturer sold just 8,855 units in February 2021 and resulting in 8 per cent YoY growth.
Volvo Eicher Commercial Vehicles (VECV), also reported a positive YoY sales growth as the commercial vehicle joint venture between Volvo and Eicher sold 3,812 units in February 2022, resulting in YoY growth of just over 5 per cent.
Maruti also held on to its spot by selling an equally respectable 3,277 commercial vehicles in February 2022. However, YoY sales are down by 0.1 per cent as Maruti Suzuki managed to sell 4 more units of its commercial vehicle in February 2021.
Though Daimler is still in a distant sixth spot in terms of sales, YoY sales performance are up by more than 24 per cent as the company managed to sell 1,445 units in February 2022, which is 281 units more than what the company managed to sell last year around same time frame.
Isuzu commercial vehicles sales go up by one spot as it overtakes Force Motors to take the 7th spot by selling 523 units in February 2022. Moreover, YoY growth now stands at more than 12 per cent as the company managed to sell just 466 units in February 2021.
Force Motors has suffered an almost 40 per cent drop in YoY sales performance as the automaker managed to sell just 398 units in February 2022 as opposed to 662 units in February 2021.
