Bentley To Launch 5 New EVs In 5 Years From 2025
British luxury carmaker Bentley has revealed plans to launch 5 new EVs in five years starting from 2025. The new Five-in-Five plan will see Bentley accelerate its Beyond 100 strategy. The British luxury marque will become electric exclusive and carbon neutral by the year 2030.
The British luxury carmaker has announced a 2.5 billion pound investment which will help it realise its goals of going carbon neutral by the year 2030. Bentley's investment will see its Crewe production centre transformed into a ‘Dream Factory' — a digital, zero environmental impact, flexible and high-value manufacturing facility.
The first new Battery electric vehicle from Bentley will roll out of the Crewe Dream Factory in the year 2025 and will be followed by a new model every year till 2030. The investment marks the first step into electrification at Bentley's Crewe facility where it currently employs 4,000 people.
The significant investment programme claims Bentley will also result in a complete transformation of the brand's entire product portfolio, and the historic Crewe Campus by embedding an industry-leading greenfield facility into a world-leading, next-generation digital, low environmental impact, high-value advanced manufacturing facility.
Bentley will be launching the plug-in electric vehicle version of the Flying Spur luxury sedan this year and it will be launching 5 new derivatives of its existing lineup. With these new cars along with the Bentayga plug-in hybrid, Bentley anticipates that more than 20 per cent of sales this year will come from its hybrid cars.
Speaking about the British luxury marque's new plans, Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, said: "Simultaneously accelerating our Beyond100 strategy and securing BEV production at Crewe, alongside a £2.5 billion investment, makes this a major landmark in Bentley's 102-year history. It is a shining light for the Bentley family, our suppliers and partners, as well as the automotive industry and UK manufacturing as a whole. This latest announcement regarding Bentley's Beyond100 plan confirms the initiation of a major transformative phase in the company's long and illustrious history. The world is changing and we need to play our part in neutralising our environmental impact. That means delivering on our aim to be end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030, and reaffirming our role as the leader in sustainable luxury mobility."
To help accelerate its plans to go fully carbon neutral by the year 2030, Bentley will expand its on-site energy production at its Crewe base by increasing the number of solar panels from 30,000 to 40,000 in the next two years. Bentley is also investigating using sustainable biofuel in fleet cars, including its iconic Heritage Collection.
The British carmaker is also encouraging its partners to support its goal of being end-to-end carbon neutral by 2030, with suppliers expected to meet minimum sustainability standards. This will also extend to Bentley's global retailer network, with each aiming for carbon neutrality by 2025 and possibly even sooner.
Thoughts On Bentley's Plans To Go Fully Electric By 2030 With 5 New EVs
Bentley has revealed an ambitious plan to go fully electric with 5 new EVs in five years starting from the year 2025. While the British marque hasn't revealed any details about its upcoming EV lineup, the new investment means that we won't have to wait long to see an actual 'green' Bentley.
