Ather Energy May Soon Launch The Long-Range Version Of 450X Electric Scooter
Ather Energy is working on long-range versions of the Ather 450X electric scooter. Also, leaked documents reveal that Ather Energy is planning to introduce two variants with the bigger battery pack.
According to the leaked documents, the long-range version of the Ather 450 electric scooter will sport a larger 3.66kWh battery pack instead of the 2.9kWh battery pack that powers the current model.
As mentioned, the new long-range version of the Ather electric scooter will be available in two variants and the lower variant is likely to have a few features disabled such as the Warp mode that gives the electric scooter additional performance over the Sport mode.
Speaking about modes, the more premium variant of the upcoming version of the Ather electric scooter features 5 ride modes - Eco Mode, Smart Eco Mode, Ride Mode, Sport Mode and Warp Mode. This variant also comes with a claimed range of 146km per full charge.
On the other hand, the lower variant of the upcoming version of the Ather electric scooter features only 4 ride modes - Eco Mode, Smart Eco Mode, Ride Mode, and Sport Mode. Moreover, the claimed range of this variant is rated at 108km despite having an identical battery pack and electric motor.
Also, the leaked documents reveal that the new battery pack is a Nickel Cobalt-based Lithium-Ion unit that weighs 19kg and the electric scooter uses a 3-phase permanent magnet synchronous motor with 6.4kW of peak power.
The Gross Vehicle Weight (GVW) of the upcoming electric scooter stands at 243kg and measures 1,837mm long, 739mm wide and 1,114mm tall. The scooter also sports a wheelbase of 1,296mm.
At present, Ather retails two variants of its Ather 450 range of electric scooters - Ather 450X and Ather 450 Plus. With the launch of these new variants, Ather Energy will have 4 products in its product portfolio - giving more choice to its customers.
Out of the current models, the Ather 450X electric scooter is the more premium variant, whereas the Ather 450 Plus is the base variant.
The current models are also very well-equipped with features such as a large 7-inch TFT touchscreen digital instrument cluster, all-LED lighting systems, multiple ride modes, reverse mode, tracking and many more.
The standard Ather 450 Plus is powered by a 5.4kW electric motor with 22Nm of torque and a 2.4kWh Lithium-ion battery pack. Whereas the more premium Ather 450X uses a more powerful 6kW electric motor with 26Nm of torque and also sports a bigger 2.9kWh Lithium-ion battery pack.
We do not expect to see any major design changes on the upcoming Ather electric scooter variants. However, we do expect new colour options to differentiate the models.
Recently, Ather Energy also rolled out a new OTA update for Ather 450 Plus and Ather 450X users in India. This new OTA update adds a 'SmartEco' ride mode to the electric scooter.
Thoughts About Ather Electric Scooters
The introduction of new variants will give Ather customers better flexibility in choosing their electric scooter. Apart from that, the upcoming variant with the larger battery pack is also likely to attract more customers to the showroom.
