2022 Tata Tigor EV Launched In India At Rs 12.49 Lakh

Tata Motors today launched the updated iteration of the Tigor EV sedan in India.

Prices for the 2022 Tata Tigor EV sedan starts at Rs 12.49 lakh (ex-showroom, India) and the electric sedan is currently available in 4 trim levels.

On top of that, Tata Motors has also added a new colour option dubbed 'Magnetic Red' for the 2022 Tata Tigor EV electric sedan. Furthermore, the latest update has introduced more than a few features in the Tigor EV electric sedan.

Diving into details, the newly launched 2022 Tata Tigor EV now comes with 10 new smart features such as the Multi-Mode Regen, Connected Car Technology- Zconnect, iTPMS and Tyre Puncture Repair Kit.

However, the interesting part is that most features introduced in the updated Tigor EV sedan will be made available to the existing Tigor EV customers through a simple software update. In addition to that, this update will be provided free of cost to the existing Tigor EV customers.

Mr Shailesh Chandra, Managing Director of Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Ltd. and Tata Motors Passenger Vehicles Ltd. said, "The recently introduced Tiago.ev - a product launched to democratize the EV market, received a tremendous response and we are elated to announce that it has garnered over 20K bookings in just a month since its launch. In line with our new forever philosophy, it is now time to upgrade the Tigor.ev with more tech and premium features. Our deep insights on the customer driving pattern received from the 600 million kilometers covered on Indian roads has helped us understand and deliver better efficiency and range. We are happy to present to you the new Tigor.ev with an extended range of 315km (ARAI certified) - More Tech, More Luxe, More.ev."

According to Tata Motors, existing Tigor EV customers can visit any Tata-authorised service centres to avail the free software upgrade, starting from 20th December 2022. Moreover, these new smart features will be available across all the trim levels of the electric sedan.

Powering the 2022 Tata Tigor EV is a 26kWh, liquid-cooled, high-density, IP67-rated battery pack. This battery pack supplies most of its stored energy to a 55kW (73.75bhp) electric motor. This electric motor drives the front wheels and puts out 170Nm of peak torque.

Thanks to the updated features and improved energy management systems, the 2022 Tata Tigor EV comes with an ARAI-certified range of 315 kilometres - Which is 9 kilometres more than the previous iteration of the electric sedan.

The biggest talking point about the updated Tigor EV is not its feature list nor its improved range, but the fact that Tata Motors providing the same update to existing Tigor EV customers free of cost. Such a gesture will not only improve the brand's reputation, but it improves the trust in people when buying a Tata product in the future - Which is very essential when the automotive industry is going through a transition phase.
