Volvo XC90 Mild Hybrid Launched In India — Priced At Rs 89.90 Lakhs

Speaking about the launch of the all-new Volvo XC90 mild hybrid in India, Jyoti Malhotra, Managing Director, Volvo Car India said "With the launch of the New XC90, we have launched three new petrol mild-hybrid models this quarter. The confidence reposed by the customer in our brand has given us the conviction to offer them technology loaded new models. This launch completes our commitment to transit from diesel to petrol and underlines our unfettered strategy to grow the Indian market."

The Volvo XC90 is powered by a 2.0-litre twin charged (supercharged and turbocharged) four cylinder petrol engine that produces 296bp at 5,700rpm and 420Nm of peak torque between 2200 - 4500rpm. The twin charged Volvo engine is mated to an eight-speed automatic gearbox that sends power to all four wheels.

The twin charged engine is connected to a 48V mild hybrid system that adds 14bhp and an integrated starter motor. The mild hybrid system helps augment the engine's power during hard acceleration while also improving fuel efficiency by a claimed 15 per cent. The XC90 mild hybrid can sprint from 0-100km/h in 7.1 seconds and has an electronically limited top speed of 180km/h.

The Volvo XC90 mild hybrid is based on the carmaker's Scalable Product Architecture (SPA) that underpins all 90 and 60 series cars that bear the Swedish automaker's badge. The SUV is 4,950mm long, 1,923mm wide and 1,775mm tall. Volvo's flagship SUV has a wheelbase that stretches 2,984mm long. The XC90 mild hybrid features a 451 litre boot and weighs in at 2,194 kilogrammes.

The new 2021 XC90 from Volvo sports the SUV's recently revised looks with a new grille that is smaller than before and reprofiled bumpers. The Volvo XC90 also sits on alloy wheels that have been heavily revised in terms of looks.

The new XC90 sports Volvo's signature Thor's Hammer daytime running lights as part of the sleek headlight package. The rear section of the SUV retains the XC90's vertically stacked taillights that curve around the edges of the tailgate.

Inside the dashboard is dominated by the large vertically stacked touchscreen infotainment display that runs on Android rather than Android Auto. Other features include a heads up display, an air purification system, onboard navigation, voice-activated controls for the infotainment system, multiple USB ports in the cabin, a hi-fi speaker system, and a powered tailgate.

The XC90 also sports multiple airbags including driver steering and driver's knee, passengers, curtain and side airbags. The XC90 also come with a host of other safety features including a lane departure warning system, auto braking collision avoidance system, automatic cruise control with pilot assist traffic jam assistant among many others.
