Volvo India Price Hike: Volvo XC40, XC60, XC90 Prices Hiked By Upto Rs 2 Lakh
Volvo has announced a price hike for all models except the recently introduced S60 sedan. depending on the model one chooses, the price hike goes up to Rs 2,00,000. This is the first time Volvo has decided to increase the prices of their vehicles in India since 2018 and the new prices are effective from 03 May 2021.
The Volvo range now kick starts with the XC40 priced at Rs 41,25,000. Prices go all the way up to Rs 96,65,000 for the XC90 Recharge plug-in hybrid variant. The only other SUV in the Volvo line-up is the mid-size 5-seater SUV, the Volvo XC60 and it range starts from Rs 60,90,000.
Volvo also sells two sedans in India, the S60 and the S90. While the former's range starts at Rs 45,90,000, the more premium S90 range starts at Rs 60,90,000. However, Volvo may have pulled the plug on the S90 temporarily as the luxury sedan is no longer listed on Volvo's official website.
We are not sure why the S90 was removed from Volvo's Indian website. Volvo may re-launch the S90 as a plug-in hybrid model soon as the price increase does include pricing for the S90..
Thoughts On Volvo Increasing Prices Of Its Cars In India
Volvo has been enjoying success ever since the Chinese automaker, Geely Automobile took over the company from Ford. Despite offering the very latest driver aids and semi-autonomous driving features that the competition lacked, the sales of Volvo never took off in India.
The newly introduced price hike will further affect Volvo's sale, but we hope the new plug-in hybrid versions can turn the tide if the brand can go ahead with some aggressive marketing plans.
