Volkswagen ID.4 GTX Revealed: Performance Electric Car From Volkswagen
The Volkswagen ID.4 GTX has been revealed. Volkswagen has finally revealed the ID.4 GTX and along with it, the 'GTX' badging has made a comeback after a hiatus. With this Volkswagen has now officially confirmed that the GTX badging will be exclusively used in performance-oriented variants of ID models.
While the standard ID.4 uses a single rear-mounted electric motor to put out 201bhp, the new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX uses an additional motor to live up to its 'GTX' badging. The total combined output from both motors is rated at 295bhp. However, the exact torque figures have not yet been revealed by Volkswagen.
At 6.2 seconds, the new ID.4 GTX is almost 2.3 seconds faster to reach 100kmph from a standstill, compared to the standard ID.4. To further justify the GTX badging, the top speed has also been increased from 160km/h to 180km/h.
The new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX uses a 77kWh battery pack to store the electricity and can be charged at a maximum rate of 125kW from a suitable fast charger. This translates to a range of 300kms in just 30 minutes.
Volkswagen claims that their new ID.4 GTX can cover a maximum distance of 480kms under the WLTP cycle on a fully charged battery pack – which is remarkably close to the standard ID.4's 500-kilometre range. Volkswagen may even introduce an 'R' badge to denote the hard-core performance versions.
In Germany, the new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX costs €50,415 (Approximately Rs 45.40 lakh), which is €6000 more than the standard ID.4 and for that money, you get 20-inch alloy wheels, LED Matrix headlamps, blacked-out spoiler, heated steering wheel, ambient lighting, contrasting red stitching and a 15mm lower ride height with a sportier steering rack.
Thoughts On The New Volkswagen ID.4 GTX Being Revealed
The new Volkswagen ID.4 GTX is a good way to spice up the eco-friendly all-electric range of Volkswagen. It may not outsell the standard ID.4 but it will attract more customers to consider electric mobility. This one is clearly targeted at enthusiasts.
