Triumph Speed Twin Pre-Bookings Open In India: Here Are All The Details

The Triumph Speed Twin pre-bookings are now open in India. Triumph Motorcycles are accepting pre-launch bookings for the Speed Twin from customers in India for a token amount of Rs 50,000. The 2021 Triumph Speed Twin is expected to launch soon in the coming weeks.

Triumph has updated the new Speed Twin with a host of upgrades. This includes design, performance and mechanical updates over the previous model. The new Speed Twin is offered in three colours schemes: Jet Black, Matt Storm Grey and Red Hopper.

Starting with the design changes, the 2021 Speed Twin has undergone very changes over the previous model. The changes include new anodised headlamp mounts, along with rear and front fender mounts. The retro-roadster also features new 17-inch alloy wheels.

The rest of the design and features remains the same as the previous Speed Twin model. It continues to use the 14-5-litre fuel tank, a single-piece wide handlebar, twin-pod semi-digital instrument console, switchgear on the handlebar, all-around LED lighting, dual chrome-finished exhausts and a single-piece seat among others.

The engine on the Speed Twin has also undergone internal changes to produce more power. This includes new high-compression pistons, revised ports and cam profiles, lightweight crankshaft and a new alternator with lesser inertial forces causing lesser mechanical losses.

The liquid-cooled parallel-twin 1200cc engine becomes more refined, efficient and powerful than the older model. It produces a maximum of 98.6bhp at 7250rpm — 3bhp more than the older engine. The peak torque, however, remains the same at 112Nm at 4,250rpm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed gearbox with a slip-assist clutch.

Suspension duties on the motorcycle get an upgrade as well. It is now handled by a 43mm USD Marzocchi forks with 120mm travel at the front and a twin-shock unit that can be adjusted for preload with 120mm travel at the rear.

Braking on the motorcycle is done via dual 320mm discs brakes with Brembo M50 4-piston radial monobloc callipers at the front and a single 220mm disc brake with a Nissin 2-piston floating calliper at the rear. The 2021 Speed Twin sits on 17-inch alloy wheels shod with Metzeler Racetec tyres at both ends.

Electronic rider aids on the motorcycle include three rides modes: Rain, Road and Sport, traction control and dual-channel ABS. The difference between ride modes includes changes in throttle mapping and the sensitivity of the traction control. The rider can switch between various ride modes using the digital display on the instrument console and the switchgear present on the handlebar.

Much like other models in the brand's line-up, the company is offering a host of accessories with the new Speed Twin. The optional accessories include cosmetic, functional and performance upgrades offered by Triumph right from the factory. Customers can personalize their retro performance-roadster motorcycle on the brand's online platform.
