Top 3 Tata Punch Alternatives
Tata has officially launched theTata Punch micro-SUV and Tata Motors claims that their new SUV has opened up an all-new segment in the Indian automotive market.
Anyways, we would like to show you the top 3 alternatives you can consider before buying the Tata Punch.
1. Tata Altroz
The Tata Altroz might not be classified as an SUV, but this premium hatchback from Tata Motors shares its underpinnings with the Tata Punch micro-SUV.
Moreover, the premium hatchback from Tata Motors is rated as one of the safest cars in India with a 5-Star crash rating for adult protection from Global-NCAP.
Unlike the Tata Punch, the Tata Altroz can be specified with a variety of engine choices, starting with the same 84.88 bhp 1.2-litre naturally-aspirated Revotron petrol engine, then there is a more potent turbocharged version with 108.48 bhp, and finally a 1.5-litre turbocharged diesel engine with 88.77 bhp.
However, unlike the Tata Punch, the Tata Altroz is offered only with one transmission option - a 5-speed manual gearbox.
Prices for the Tata Altroz start from Rs 5.84 lakh (ex-showroom, India), which is just around Rs 35,000 more expensive than the base variant of Tata Punch.
2. Renault Kiger
Renault Kiger is the French car manufacturer's compact SUV for the Indian market and it is the most affordable compact SUV currently available in India with a starting price of Rs 5.64 lakh (ex-showroom, India).
For just Rs 15,000 more, you can buy the Renault Kiger which is a size larger than the Tata Punch.
The Renault Kiger comes with a choice of two petrol engines. The frugal one is the 1.0-litre naturally aspirated petrol engine that produces 71.01 bhp and 96 Nm of torque. The more potent engine is a turbocharged 1.0-litre unit with 98.63bhp and 160Nm of torque.
Both these engines can be specified with either a 5-speed manual transmission or an automatic gearbox.
However, the 1.0-litre naturally-aspirated engine gets an AMT gearbox, whereas the more powerful turbocharged unit gets a CVT gearbox.
3. Maruti Suzuki Swift
If you are looking for a fun-to-drive alternative, you should just go ahead and book the new Maruti Suzuki Swift.
The Maruti Suzuki Swift has always been a great driver's car with its sharp handling and impeccable body control, while the latest generation comes with even plusher interiors and more features.
Powering the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is a 1.2-litre 4-cylinder BS6 petrol engine with 88.5bhp at 6,000 rpm and 113 Nm of torque at 4,400 rpm. Like the Tata Punch, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift comes with a choice of 5-speed manual transmission or a 5-speed AMt.
Moreover, the new Maruti Suzuki Swift is also priced very close to the Tata Punch and prices start from Rs 5,85,000.
Thoughts About Tata Punch & Its Top 3 Rivals
Tata Motors has launched the new Tata Punch micro-SUV and has been priced very competitively. However, these three mentioned alternatives also offer something different at a similar price. The choice depends on your purpose and preferences.
