Tata Motors recently unveiled the Tata Punch and started bookings for the micro-SUV for Rs 21,000.
Tata Punch is the brand's first SUV to be built using the ALFA(Agile Light Flexible Advanced) Architecture and it is powered by a 3-cylinder 1.2L Revotron petrol engine with 83 bhp and 113 Nm of torque.
During the unveil event, it was revealed that the Tata Punch micro-SUV will be available in four different variants and seven different exterior shades. Moreover, the top-end variant could also be had with a contrasting roof finished in black or white shade.
The exterior shade options offered by Tata Motors on the new Tata Punch are Orcus White, Daytona Grey, Tropical Mist, Atomic Orange, Meteor Bronze, Tornado Blue, and Calypso Red. While the four variants offered in Tata Paunch are Pure, Adventure, Accomplished, and Creative.
The base variant of the Tata Punch range is the ‘Pure' variant, and it only comes with a manual transmission. The Tata Punch Pure (MT) gets Dual airbags, ABS with EBD, RPAS, Isofix child seat with top tether points, Wheel arch cladding, Brake sway control, Front power windows,
Tilt-adjustable steering, Sill cladding, 90-degree opening doors, Flat rear floor, LED turn indicators, Humanity chrome line, Body-coloured bumpers, and Door cladding.
The variant just above the Pure variant is the ‘Adventure' variant. The Tata Punch in Adventure variant comes with a choice of manual and AMT gearbox.
The Adventure variant comes with few more additional features over the Pure variant such as a four-inch infotainment system, Four speakers, Steering-mounted controls, USB charging port, Electrically adjustable ORVMs, All four power windows, Follow-me-home-headlamps, Central remote locking with flip key, Full wheel covers, and Body-coloured ORVMs.
Sitting above the Adventure variant is the ‘Accomplished' variant. This variant comes packed with more advanced features and will cater to young buyers.
This variant comes with features such as a Harman-sourced seven-inch touchscreen infotainment system with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, Two tweeters, Reverse parking camera, LED taillamps, Front fog lights, 15-inch hyper-style wheels, Engine start-stop button, Cruise control, Height-adjustable driver seat, and Traction Pro mode.
It is worth mentioning that the aforementioned Traction Pro mode is only available in the AMT gearbox equipped model, and this system prompts the driver to activate the Traction Pro mode in low traction surfaces as soon as the vehicle detects traction loss.
Once activated, the Traction pro mode displays a series of instructions on the 7-inch infotainment display to guide the driver out of the low traction situation.
The top of the range variant in the Tata punch range is the ‘Creative' variant. This variant comes with lot more standard features and also adds some character to the micro-SUV.
The Creative variant comes with features such as Projector headlamps, LED DRLs, 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, roof rails, automatic headlamps, Rain-sensing wipers, a Seven-inch instrument console,
Auto-folding ORVMs, Automatic climate control, Cooled glove-box, Rear wiper and washer, Rear defogger, Puddle lamps, Rear-seat arm-rest, Leather-wrapped steering wheel and gear-knob.
Thoughts About Tata Punch Variants
Tata Motors is betting big on the Tata Punch micro-SUV, and the four variants offered on the Tata Punch offers well-judged packages for different types of customers.
We expect Tata Motors to price the base variant quite aggressively, considering it doesn't come with the option for an AMT gearbox.
