Tata Nexon EV To Sport A Larger 40 kWh Battery Pack
Tata Nexon EV will soon sport a larger 40kWh battery pack for an increased range. The uprated version is likely to be launched in the first half of 2022 and will be sold alongside the current model.
Tata Nexon EV is one of the best selling electric vehicles in the country and the company holds a commanding 70 per cent market share in the personal EV segment.
At present, the Tata Nexon EV comes with a 30.2kWh Li-ion battery pack and most of the stored energy in this battery pack is consumed by a 3 Phase Permanent Magnet Synchronous Motor with 127.23 bhp and 245 Nm of torque.
Tata Motors claims a range of 312 kms on a single charge for the Nexon EV. However, with the uprated battery pack, the Tata Nexon EV could do more than 400 kms on a single charge.
Thanks to an almost 10kWh increase in battery capacity, the new Nexon EV could also weigh around 100 kgs more than the current model.
At present, the Tata Nexon EV range darts from Rs 14.24 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base XM variant and this price goes up to Rs 16.85 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the top-of-the-line Dark XZ+ Lux variant.
With the uprated 40kWh battery pack model coming soon, we expect this price to jump by 10 to 25 per cent depending on the variants.
Recently, Tata Motors launched its EV subsidiary, Tata Passenger Electric Mobility Limited (TPEML) in India, and according to Tata Motors, TPEML will take care of every aspect of the automotive business such as R&D, design, development, manufacturing, assembly, fabrication, sales, marketing, after-sales support, etc.
Apart from the Nexon EV, Tata Motors also has the Tigor EV and the latter was recently updated with a much more advanced 350V Ziptron EV system.
Speaking about the updated Tigor EV, Tata Motors recently launched the Xpres-T EV in India and the EV is a commercial electric sedan based on the Tigor EV and is priced at Rs 9.54 lakh for the base variant, where 'Xpres' is the recently introduced electric sub-brand of the Indian automotive giant, Tata Motors.
Moreover, Tata Motors had announced that the company had sold 10,000 EVs in India. This number combines both commercial and private vehicles.
Previously, Tata Motor said that the company has built a viable road map for the future and the company is committed to staying in this course of making EVs mainstream.
Apart from this, Tata Motors is gearing up to become the biggest player for EVs in India with the help of other companies under the Tata Group such as Tata Power, Tata Chemicals, Tata Autocomp, Tata Motors Finance, and Croma.
With these companies working together, Tata Motors is gearing up to form an expansive e-mobility ecosystem in the country called the Tata UniEVerse.
Thoughts About Tata Nexon EV With 40kWh Battery Pack
The Tata Nexon EV is a default choice for many EV buyers, thanks to its lower starting price and decent equipment levels. With a larger 40kWh battery pack, the Tata Nexon EV could have a higher range on a single charge, which could give more peace of mind to potential customers and attract more people towards considering EV for daily commute.
