Tata HBX Interior Exterior Design & Features Spied Ahead Of India Launch: Pics & Details
Tata Motors is currently testing the upcoming micro SUV launching in the country. It is currently codenamed HBX. The Tata HBX was first showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo in a rugged concept, that grabbed everyone's attention. The company is expected to reveal the production form of the micro-SUV sometime this year.
Ahead of its unveiling, the HBX was recently spotted testing in the country. The images shared by Gaadiwaadi reveals some of the interior and exteriors design and features of the upcoming micro-SUV.
From the spy images, we noticed that the test mule is of the mid-spec variant of the HBX micro-SUV. This is because, the test mule missed out on the floating touchscreen infotainment display, which has been replaced by a standard audio system.
The test mule also misses out on the front and the rear seat armrest. The test mule also features manual AC control in front of the gear lever, and above it is the media controls on the centre console. The SUV-inspired design makes for a roomier cabin to seat five passengers comfortably.
However, the top-spec variants of the HBX are expected to be offered with a floating touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, dual-tone upholstery, ambient lighting, and the semi-digital instrument cluster; among others.
The HBX will feature Tata Motors's ALFA architecture and the Impact 2.0 design, similar to the Altroz premium hatchback. However, the production version of the SUV is likely to be called the Timero.
Spy images also reveal the test mule to sport a new alloy wheel design, which has not been spotted on other test mules earlier. The alloy wheels sport a dual-tone finish and look premium, which could be reserved for top-varaints of the HBX model.
Apart from these, the test mule also reveals the Harrier-inspired split-headlamps design with DRLs placed on top and main units placed on the bumper. At the rear, the test mule feature full-LED tail lamps along with a roof-mounted spoiler as well.
The HBX is expected to feature the same petrol engine that currently powers the Altroz premium hatchback. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 85bhp and 113Nm of torque and comes mated to a manual transmission. The company is also expected to offer the petrol engine with an optional AMT at a later date.
Thoughts About The Tata HBX Interior Exterior Design & Features Spied
The Tata HBX is expected to be the brand's entry-level offering in the country. It could be placed in a similar price bracket at the Tiago or slightly higher. Once launched, the Tata HBX will rival the Mahindra XUV100, Maruti Suzuki Ignis and the Ford Freestyle.
