Tata HBX India Launch Expected Soon: Production Of First Batch Commences
Tata Motors is gearing up to launch the much-awaited HBX a.k.a Hornbill in the Indian market. According to the latest report, the company is said to have begun production of the upcoming micro-SUV. Also, the first batch of cars is rumoured to be ready to roll out of the production line.
The HBX will be based on the brand's ALFA platform, which underpins the Altroz premium hatchback. The design of the Hornbill will be based on Tata's Impact 2.0 philosophy used by the Harrier, Altroz, Safari and more.
Speaking about the exterior design of the HBX, the micro-SUV will feature an upright stance that frees up cabin space. The HBX's front-end is inspired by the Harrier featuring the same split-style headlamp design with the DRLs at the top next to the grille and the main headlamps placed in the bumper.
At the rear, the crossover-SUV will feature Y-shaped LED taillamps, dual-tone alloy wheels, all-around body cladding, and roof rails; among others. Bumpers at both ends will also feature faux skid plates for an enhanced and aggressive look.
On the inside, the upcoming hatchback-SUV is expected to borrow most of its features from the Altroz hatchback. It includes the touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. The infotainment system is also expected to feature the brand's connected technology with an enhanced AVA voice assistant system — here are all the details.
Other features include a semi-digital instrument cluster, climate control, a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls, rear ac vents, a button to start the car, cruise control and more.
Going by the enhanced safety of Tata cars in recent times, we expect the upcoming HBX to come equipped with a host of features to ensure ample crash protection and occupant safety.
The HBX is expected to feature the same petrol engine that currently powers the Altroz premium hatchback. The 1.2-litre petrol engine produces 85bhp and 113Nm of torque and comes mated to a manual transmission. The company is also expected to offer the petrol engine with an optional AMT at a later date.
Thoughts About The Tata HBX India Launch Expected Soon & Production Of First Batch SUVs
The demand for practical vehicles in India is at an all-time high with SUVs taking over hatchback and sedan sales. However, the HBX will be slotted under the brand's Nexon compact SUV and will serve as an alternative to buying entry-level hatchbacks in the country. Tata Motors is expected to pack the HBX a.k.a Hornbill with a ton of features to attract buyers to this relatively nascent segment.
