Skoda Kushaq Will Receive A New Fuel Pump; Plans For A Recall & Replacements To Be Made Free Of Cost

Skoda has now diagnosed the problem and says that the company will replace the fuel pumps with a more robust unit free of cost.

Based on the majority of social media posts, we suspect the problem seems to occur on the 1-litre turbocharged petrol engine. Skoda says the problem could be due to the difference in fuel quality across the country.

As the problem has been diagnosed by Skoda, we expect Skoda to announce a recall of Skoda Kushaq's equipped with the faulty fuel pump.

Reflecting on this assumption, Zac Hollis, director, sales and marketing, Skoda India also hinted at a precautionary recall of all Skoda Kushaq's that haven't yet faced the issue.

Skoda Kushaq is the Czech brand's first model to be built under the 'India 2.0' strategy, which aims to set up a profitable business. This meant Skoda had to localise the production as much as possible, a feat the company managed to achieve with 93 per cent localised parts.

Skoda Kusahaq is the Czech brand's latest offering for the Indian market and in many ways turned the tide for the brand in the country. With the Skoda Kushaq, Skoda entered one of the hottest segments in the country; the Compact SUV segment.

Skoda Kushaq competes against the likes of Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos and a few more in this segment.

Skoda Kushaq is built on MQB-A0 IN, which is derived from Volkswagen Group's proven MQB-A0 platform.

Apart from this Skoda Kusaq is offered in India with two engine options and both being petrol only. The 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI is the frugal one with 115 Bhp and 178Nm of torque, this engine is mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox, but there is also an optional 6-speed automatic gearbox as an option.

The 1.5-litre TSI engine is the more potent one with 150 Bhp and 250Nm of torque. Though, this engine comes with a 6-speed manual transmission and an option of an automatic transmission, the automatic transmission is a more advanced 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Features-wise, the Skoda Kushaq comes well-loaded with features such as a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, cooled seats, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reverse camera, LED headlamps, wireless charging pad, touch-sensitive air-con controls and a few more.

At present, Skoda Kushaq prices start from Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom) for the base petrol variant, whereas the top-end model goes up to Rs 17.6 lakh (ex-showroom).

Though the social media platforms are being flooded with numerous posts of Skoda Kushaqs breaking down, the Czech brand was quick to diagnose the problem. This shows the brilliant engineering team behind the brand.

Apart from this, we expect the Czech brand will offer to replace the faulty parts free of cost to its customers.
