Skoda Kushaq Style Variant Gets Updated; Kushaq Style Variant Now Receives 6 Airbags & TPMS

Skoda Kushaq Style Variant Gets Updated. The updated Skoda Kushaq Style variant now gets 6 airbags and a Tyre Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS).

Previously. The top-end Style variant of Skoda Kushaq skipped these necessary safety features, but the Czech carmaker had received a huge backlash from customers for skipping it.

This new update adds 4 more airbags and TPMS to the top-end Style variant of Skoda Kusaq, and both the 1.0-litre TSI AT and 1.5-litre TSI AT variants get these added safety features.

However, due to the added safety kit, Skoda has also increased the prices on the top-end Style variant of Skoda Kushaq by Rs 40,000 each. This has brought the prices up to Rs 16.20 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 1.0-litre TSI AT variant and Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom) for the 1.5-litre TSI DSG variant.

A point to note is that the manual version of the Skoda Kushaq Style variant had these safety features from the launch day itself.

Speaking of Skoda Kushaq, it is the Czech brand's first model to be built under the 'India 2.0' strategy. Under this strategy, Skoda aims to set up a profitable business in India

For setting up a profitable business, Skoda has to reduce the manufacturing cost without affecting the quality. For this, Skoda has aggressively localised the production as much as possible.

For Skoda Kushaq, the Czech car manufacturer managed to achieve almost 93 per cent localisation. This enabled Skoda to price the Kushaq competitively in the segment.

Speaking of competition, the Skoda Kushaq competes in one of the hottest segments in the country, and it competes against the likes of Hyundai Creta, MG Hector, Tata Harrier, Volkswagen Taigun, Kia Seltos and a few more in this segment.

Skoda Kushaq is built on the company's versatile MQB-A0 IN platform, which is derived from Volkswagen Group's proven MQB-A0 platform.

Apart from that, Skoda Kusaq is offered in India with two engine options. The frugal one is the 1.0-litre 3-cylinder TSI petrol engine with 115 Bhp and 178Nm of torque. This engine comes mated to a 6-speed manual gearbox as standard, but there is also an optional 6-speed automatic gearbox.

The 1.5-litre TSI engine is the potent one with 150 Bhp and 250Nm of torque. Like the 1.0-litre TSI variant, this engine also comes mated to a 6-speed manual transmission as standard, but the optional automatic transmission is a more advanced 7-speed DCT gearbox.

Features-wise, the Skoda Kushaq comes well-loaded with features such as a large 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment system, touch-sensitive air-con controls, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, reverse camera, LED headlamps, cooled seats, wireless charging pad, and a few more.

Safety-wise, the Skoda Kushaq comes with ABS with EBD, TCS, a multi-collision braking system, hill start assist, hill hold control, Anti-Slip Regulation, Motor Slip Regulation, Brake Disc Wiping, Roll Over Protection, Electronic Differential Locking System, Electronic Stability Control, 6 airbags, TPMS, ISOFIX points and a few more.

At present, Skoda Kushaq prices start from Rs 10.5 lakh (ex-showroom, India) for the base petrol variant, whereas the top-end Style variant with a 1.5-litre TSI engine and automatic gearbox goes up to Rs 18 lakh (ex-showroom, India).

Thoughts About Skoda Kusaq AT Style Variant Update

The expectation for additional safety kits on the top-end variant is always high in India. The fact that Skoda offered the added features in the manual variant whereas the automatic variant skipped the necessary safety feature made matters worse for Skoda.

However, Skoda was quick to respond to criticism and suggestions, which in a way is commendable.
