EICMA 2021: Limited Editon Royal Enfield Interceptor & Continental 650 Revealed

Indian motorcycle manufacturer Royal Enfield has revealed the 120th Anniversary edition of the Interceptor and Continental GT 650 twins at EICMA 2021. The special-run bikes celebrate the brand's 120th anniversary. Royal Enfield's first-ever motorcycle was launched in November 1901 at the Stanley Cycle show in London.

Both the Interceptor and Continental GT 120th Anniversary editions are limited to just 240 units each. Out of these 240 motorcycles, only 60 units of each bike will be made available in India. Other regions getting 60 units of both bikes include Europe, the Americas and South-East Asia. Each of these limited edition motorcycles will sport a unique badge atop the fuel tank indicating the serial number of the bike for each unique region the two bikes are sold in.

Both the Interceptor and Continental GT 650 120th Anniversary Editions sport a unique black chrome paint scheme along with unique die-cast brass emblems. The special brass badges are made in collaboration with the 'Sirpi Senthil' family who are a clan of artisans from the temple town of Kumbakonam, Tamil Nadu. Both bikes also feature gold stripes on the top section of the fuel tank along with a painted version of the special badge (also done up in gold).

The black paint scheme is matched by the blacked-out engine, exhausts, handlebars, and suspension components which sport a matte finish. Both bikes also sport a host of Royal Enfield genuine accessories as standard including flyscreens, bar-end mirrors, engine and heel guards among others which are all painted black.

Speaking of the mechanical components, both the Royal Enfield Interceptor and Continental GT 650 are unchanged mechanically. Both bikes draw power from the same four-stroke, 648cc, air-& oil-cooled, single overhead cam, 8-valve, 270° parallel-twin engine that produces 47bhp at 7,250rpm and 52Nm of peak torque at 5,250rpm. The engine is paired to a six-speed constant mesh manual transmission.

Both the Continental GT 650 and Interceptor sport the same tubular twin-downtube cradle frame chassis. The bikes sport 41mm front forks (with 110mm travel) and twin coil-over shocks at the rear (with 88mm travel). The two 650 twins from Royal Enfield also sport large disc brakes on each wheel with the front end sporting a 320mm disc brake and the rear a 240mm unit.

Both bikes ride on 18-inch spoked wheels shod with 100/90-R18 (front) and 130/70-R18 (rear) tyres. Both bikes are 2,122mm long, 1,165mm wide and 789mm tall.
