New Mahindra Scorpio Spied Testing In Desert Ahead Of India Launch: Pics & Details
Mahindra will be revamping its entire lineup over the coming months. The company have begun updating their models by launching the new-generation Thar. However, there are a whole host of models in the brand's pipeline launching soon. This includes the new-generation Scorpio as well.
A recent video posted by Rajasthan Motorsports on Instagram reveals the new-gen Scorpio testing in the desert. Although the dune bashing Scorpio is not seen properly in the video, we could notice the new LED DRL set up of the upcoming SUV.
This also means that the 2021 Scorpio is expected to arrive with a 4x4 system possibly borrowed from the new Mahindra Thar. The company is expected to launch the new-generation Scorpio sometime this year.

The new SUV has been spotted several times testing in the country ahead of its launch. Each time, the spy images have revealed new features that are expected on the next-generation Scorpio.
Starting with the size, the 2021 Scorpio will carry a bigger footprint as compared to the outgoing model. This will result in a roomier cabin with most of the space freed up for the third-row passenger in the SUV. The third-row seats could be offered with forward-facing seats on the new-gen model.
Speaking about the exterior design changes on the new-gen Scorpio, it will be revised with a new front fascia. This includes a new grille, LED headlamps with DRLs and LED taillamps. It is also expected to feature a new bumper design at both ends along with new alloy wheels.
On the inside, the new Scorpio's cabin is expected to be completely changed to offer a more upmarket feel. Starting with the addition of a large touchscreen infotainment system, a flat-bottom steering wheel with mounted controls, and a semi-digital instrument cluster. Also, the dashboard design looks similar to the ones seen on the XUV300.
The large infotainment display is expected to support wireless smartphone technology such as Android Auto, Apple CarPlay and the brand's connected technology. Other features that are expected on the new-generation SUV includes wireless smartphone charging, climate control, rear ac vents, USB charging slots, a power-operated driver seat and a panoramic sunroof; among others.
The next-gen Scorpio is likely to be offered with petrol and diesel engine options borrowed from the new-gen Mahindra Thar. This includes the 2.0-litre T-GDi turbo petrol unit and the 2.2-litre 'mHawk' diesel unit. Both engines will come with a manual gearbox as standard and an optional torque converter automatic.
Thoughts About The New Mahindra Scorpio Spotted Testing In Desert
Mahindra seems to be extensively testing the new-generation Scorpio in various weather condition and terrain to ensure its smooth operations and proven off-road abilities. The launch of the new-generation Scorpio might get delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the country.
