New Lexus NX SUV Revealed Globally: India Launch Likely
Lexus has unveiled the second generation of their entry-level SUV, the NX. For Lexus, the NX is one of their most successful products after having sold more units than any other models with the Lexus badge in Europe.
As Lexus didn't want to experiment on a success story, the designers at Lexus drew inspiration from the recently showcased LF-Z EV concept and modernized the whole package. The resulting second-generation Lexus NX looks evolutionary yet thoroughly modern.
From the front side, the second generation Lexus NX gets much bigger air dams with integrated fog lamps for aggressive looks, this is further complemented with the use of sleek headlamps with integrated DRLs. However, the centre stage at the front is still carried by the large 'Spindle' grille.
Moving on to the sides, the longer bonnet helps the car look more premium and well proportioned, while the sharp new creases help the second-generation NX to differentiate itself from the previous version.
It is at the rear where the new second-generation Lexus NX looks the most different to its predecessor with completely different tail lamps that are connected by an LED stoplight. This new design treatment makes the second-generation NX looks properly modern and catchy. The Lexus badge has also been replaced with a gapping set of alphabets that spells 'LEXUS'.
Like the exterior, the interior is also thoroughly redesigned yet looks more evolutionary than revolutionary. This is evident from how the large 14-inch touchscreen infotainment system gels with the overall cabin rather than taking the spotlight.
As for the features, the new Lexus NX comes packed to the brim with features like a 360-degree camera, auto headlamps and wipers, wireless charging pad, fully digital instruments, electrically adjustable front seats and many more.
The safety features are also top-notch stuff with ABS, EBD, Traction Control, Stability Control, Front and Rear parking sensors, blind-spot monitoring, and Lexus's new E-Latch system that will prevent the user from opening the door on oncoming traffic.
Powering the new Lexus NX is a range of petrol engines, starting from a 2.5-litre petrol engine with 205hp, then there is a plug-in hybrid option on the same engine that pushes out 242hp, for people who want a bit more power there is a 2.4-litre turbocharged petrol engine with 272hp. However, the most powerful of the lot is a plug-in hybrid with 306hp.
We are not sure when Lexus is planning to bring the new second-generation NX to India. However, do expect a price jump when it reaches our shores.
Thoughts About The New Lexus NX SUV Revealed Globally
Lexus NX is a great alternative if you are bored of German offerings, and offer a far more economical to run and maintain. If you opt for Hybrid variants, you can run up to 58kms on electric power alone – Something you can brag about as the fuel prices are at a record high.
