MoRTH Launches New Portal For Automotive Grievances & Recalls

The Ministry of Road Transport and Highways (MoRTH) has recently launched a new portal on its Parivahan website to address issues of Indian automotive consumers. The newly launched portal on the Parivahan website has been introduced to help vehicle owners as they can register their complaints about manufacturing defects on their respective vehicles.

The nature of the complaint also covers a wide area that ranges from faulty components to software glitches that may turn into a potential hazard for the user or others. However, the complaint can only be registered if the vehicle is less than seven years old.

Once the user registers the complaint on the newly launched website, MoRTH will conduct an investigation on the matter. Post the investigation MoRTH has the authority to announce a total recall depending on the type of defect.

No other details regarding this portal have been revealed at the moment. It is accessible from the MoRTH website and all its features are accessible by the general public. A watchful eye of the government will also ensure that manufacturers will abide by the unwritten rules of automotive ethics.

Thoughts On MoRTH Launching A New Portal To Address Issues Of Indian Auto Buyers

This a welcome move by the government of India. The setting up of this portal will not only indirectly pressure manufacturers to rectify the smallest of problems with immediate effect, but it will also promote stricter levels of inspection before the vehicle rolls out of the factory line.
