MG Hector & Hector Plus Prices Increase In April — Third Price Hike In 2021
MG started manufacturing and sales operations in India when the Indian automotive industry was in a lull. Just when everyone thought the worst was over, the pandemic took the automotive industry to new lows.
Against all odds thrown at the brand, MG's products were generously accepted by Indian consumers for its long list of features. The success of the MG Hector on Indian soil challenged even the experts to rethink consumer needs and trends.
Fast forward to 2021, MG now has three products in its line-up including the new 3-row version of the MG Hector named 'MG Hector Plus' and the all-electric MG ZS EV. MG has also slightly updated most of its product line-up and the prices have also been slightly revised.
The MG Hector's variants Style, Super, Smart and sharp with the 1.5-litre petrol engine have seen an increase in prices of Rs 28,000. The Smart and Sharp variants with the petrol-hybrid drivetrain also get a similar hike in prices. The Style, Super, and Smart variants powered by the diesel engine receive an increase of Rs 38,000 while the top-spec Sharp variant gets the highest hike at Rs 43,000.
Moving on to the MG Hector's extended sibling - the MG Hector Plus, the petrol-hybrid variants are now costlier by Rs 28,000, whereas the diesel variants Super Smart, and Sharp get an increase of Rs 43,000.
Both the MG Hector and Hector Plus are powered by a 2.0-litre turbocharged diesel engine capable of 170PS and 350Nm. Yet another engine option is the more eco-friendly 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine, paired with a 48v mild-hybrid system to further increase fuel efficiency and reduce emissions.
A 6-Speed manual gearbox comes as standard across all models and variants, but one can always opt for a DCT or a CVT transmission that comes as an option with the petrol motor.
Thoughts On The New MG Hector & MG Hector Plus Price Hike
With the launch of MG Hector in India, MG showed that a good product can always overcome all the odds thrown at it. The only drawback with the MG Hector used to be the lack of 3rd row seating, and this has now been resolved with the addition of MG Hector Plus. This price hike will make buyers pay more, but this too wouldn't deter people from purchasing the Hector & Hector Plus.
