Mercedes-Benz EQC Electric SUV First Batch Sold Out In India: Here Are The Details!
Mercedes-Benz introduced its first all-electric SUV, the EQC in the Indian market last year. The Mercedes-Benz EQC is offered with a starting price of Rs 99.30 lakh, ex-showroom (India). The electric SUV is sold in six cities across India: Bengaluru, Hyderabad, Delhi, Pune, Mumbai and Chennai. However, customers from other towns and cities in India can also purchase the EQC by booking it online.
Speaking to Carandbike, Martin Schwenk, Managing Director & CEO, Mercedes-Benz India has confirmed that the first batch of EQC electric SUVs have been sold out in the Indian market. Schwenk also stated that the company is now accepting bookings for the second batch. Deliveries of the Mercedes-Benz EQC are expected to resume in the next couple of months time.
The Mercedes-Benz EQC is based on the same platform as the brand's standard GLC SUV, even featuring a similar silhouette. The electric SUV is powered by two electric motors, one at the front and another at the rear, making it a four-wheel-drive system. The two electric motors are powered by an 80kW lithium-ion battery pack, which together produce 405bhp and 765Nm of peak torque.
The electric powertrain on the EQC offers the SUV a maximum range of 471km on a single charge. In terms of performance, the electric SUV claims to accelerate from 0 - 100km/h in 5.1 seconds while reaching an electronically-limited top speed of 180km/h. Mercedes-Benz also offers the EQC with fast-charging options, capable of charging from 0 - 80 per cent in just 40 mins.
The Mercedes-Benz EQC was initially supposed to launch sometime in early-2020. However, the launch had to be delayed due to the pandemic and the subsequent lockdown. The EQC currently doesn't have any direct rivals, although the Jaguar I-Pace and the Audi e-Tron are expected to launch in India very soon.
Thoughts On The Mercedes-Benz EQC Being Sold Out In India
The first batch of the EQC being sold out, showcases the positive sentiment of customers towards the electric SUV in the Indian market. The performance of the EQC should also help boost Audi and Jaguar's plans of introducing their electric SUVs in India.
