Next-Gen Suzuki S-Cross Revealed In Leaked Images Ahead Of Global Debut
Japanese carmaker Suzuki is set to unveil the next-gen S-Cross SUV on November 25. However, before the parent company of Maruti Suzuki could take the covers off the new S Cross, a leaked image on the gram has revealed quite a few details about the new SUV's all-new design.
Viewed from the front, the new S-Cross features a more boxy design. This is a complete departure from the current model's curvy design. The new Suzuki S-Cross features sleek and angular tri-beam LED projector headlamps which feature integrated daytime running lamps. The headlamps are connected to the Suzuki badge at the centre of the new grille by thick strips of chrome.
The front bumper is also brand new and plays host to the turn signals and fog lamps of the new S-Cross SUV. The front bumper also features a faux bash plate which gives the SUV a more rugged look.
The new S-Cross features plastic cladding around its wheel arches and its sides which give the SUV a more muscular look. The large wheel arches play host to the new sets of wheels with the higher spec versions of the new S-Cross set to feature some rather snazzy new alloy wheels.
At the back, the S-Cross has undergone yet another transformation. Gone are the small units found on the current car which have been replaced by a new and larger clear glass LED setup. The taillights are connected to the Suzuki badge at the back by thin chrome strips and black plastic panels which combine together to mimic the lightbars seen on the back of many new cars.
Details about the interior have yet to be revealed but we expect Suzuki to improve upon the current SUV's suite of connected car features. The new S-Cross is expected to get a tech overhaul especially as the new model will arrive first in Europe. The new S-Cross is expected to feature multiple advanced driver assistance systems like auto emergency braking, cruise control, lane-keeping assist and blind-spot monitoring among others.
Underneath the bonnet of the new SUV will sit Suzuki's 1.4-litre boosterjet engine that produces 127bhp and 235Nm of peak torque.
The engine is expected to be paired to either a 6-speed manual or a 6-speed automatic gearbox which will send power to either the front wheels or all four if the new car is equipped with the optional Suzuki 'All Grip' all-wheel drive system that is offered in some markets.
The new S-Cross is expected to feature a 48V mild-hybrid system instead of the current 12V setup. The new mild-hybrid system will help improve fuel efficiency figures while also helping out with acceleration whenever required.
Thoughts On The New Suzuki S-Cross
The all-new Suzuki S-Cross has undergone a massive change in terms of design. Frankly, this is what the
S-Cross should have looked like from the start. The new model will be unveiled on the 25th of November and will first hit the streets of Europe and the United Kingdom.
It is still unclear whether or not the new S-Cross as Maruti Suzuki and Toyota are currently collaborating to bring a new co-branded SUV that will take on the Hyundai Creta. However, if they do end up using the all-new S-Cross, we wouldn't fault them as the new SUV's design sure looks like it was done with the Indian SUV buyer in mind.
