Mahindra eKUV100 & eXUV300 Launch Timeline Revealed: Here Are All The Details
Mahindra Electric is gearing up to launch the electric version of the KUV100 and the XUV300 in the country. The company had first showcased both the eKUV100 and the eXUV300 at the 2020 Auto Expo.
The launch of both electric vehicles have been delayed due to the ongoing Covid-19 pandemic in the country. However, due to the rising demand for electric vehicles in the country, the company is looking to launch both electric vehicles in the country.
According to the latest report from Carwale, Mahindra Electric will now launch the eKUV100 and the eXUV300 sometime next year in the country.
Speaking about the eKUV100, the electric-SUV is priced at Rs 8.25 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). This makes the eKUV100 one of the most affordable electric vehicles available in the Indian market.
Once available, the eKUV100 will be the cheapest SUV sold in the Indian market, taking the title away currently held by the Tata Nexon EV. The company also announced that they will focus sales on fleet operators for the eKUV100. However, the SUV will also be offered to private buyers looking to switch green mobility in the country.
The Mahindra eKUV100 is powered by a 40kW electric motor paired to a 15.9kWh lithium-ion battery pack. The eclectic powertrain produces a maximum of 53bhp and a peak torque of 120Nm. The eKUV100 can travel a maximum of 120 kilometres on a single battery charge.
Mahindra will be offering the eKUV100 with both standard and fast-charging options. The charge times of the eKUV100 is yet to be revealed by the company. However, using a DC fast charger the SUV is expected to charge up to 80 per cent within an hour.
The eKUV100 looks almost identical to the IC engine powered model. However, there are some tweaks made to the front of the electric version to suit its nature. A similar design language will be carried out on the eXUV300. It will also be inspired by its IC engine counterpart.
Mahindra will also be launching the Atom quadricycle along with the above-mentioned electric vehicles. It was also showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo. The company did not reveal the exact specifications of the Atom at the time of unveiling. However, we expect it to produce a power output of less than 15kW with an electronically-limited top speed of 70kmph — here are all details.
Thoughts About The Mahindra eKUV100 & eXUV300 Launch In India
The Mahindra eKUV100 and the eXUV300 will provide additional options to what is otherwise a nascent segment in the country. The eKUV100 will also be the cheapest electric SUV on sale once launched in the country. However, the eXUV300 will go head-to-head with the Nexon EV after its launch in the market.
