Magenta & Central Railways Innaugrate EV Chargers At Parel Railway Station

The new public charging system at Parel railway station is the first of its kind and features the unique Made in India streetlamp integrated EV charging stations. The charging stations at Parel will in the future also feature DC fast chargers for higher speed charging.

Magenta and Central Railways in the next two weeks will set up new charging stations at Dadar and Byculla railway stations. The AC and DC chargers at these three stations will support the charging of two, three and four-wheeled electric vehicles.

Speaking at the inauguration of the new charging station at Parel railway station, Subhash Desai, Hon. Minister of Industry and Mining said, "We are glad to see Magenta with Central Railways pushing 'green initiatives and setting up EV charging stations addressing the lack of the charging infrastructure for EVs to operate smoothly. This initiative will bring relief to people who can charge their EVs at key locations near Railway stations as well."

The new Magenta charging stations at Parel and the upcoming units at Dadar and Byculla will be available for use 24*7. Customers looking for an EV charger can find them using the ChargeGrid App. The app allows for remote monitoring and also includes an automated payment system eliminating the need of having a station marshal to monitor, maintain & operate the chargers at the location.

The Magenta Group is currently in the process of installing 4,500 electric vehicle charging stations in 108 cities across the country. These include 2950 chargers under the FAME-2 scheme along REIL; more than 1200 chargers at petrol stations such as HPCL and others; 82 at FERN Hotels; residential chargers in collaboration with the Government of Delhi and residential chargers in collaboration with the Bengaluru Apartment Federation. The chargers claim Magenta, will support the government initiative of setting up 400,000 charging stations to meet the requirement for two million Electric Vehicles (EV) that could potentially ply on its roads by 2026.
