Hyundai Verna Gets New Feature Upgrades: Receives Segment First Android Auto & Apple CarPlay

Hyundai has rolled out a couple of updates for the Verna sedan in the Indian market. The company updated the sedan model with a host of design and feature updates last year. Now, the sedan has received additional features and an all-new variant as well.

Hyundai has rolled out the Android Auto and Apple CarPlay wireless smartphone connectivity feature on the Verna. It becomes the only sedan in the segment to feature these wireless connectivity features in the Indian market.

Along with new features, the company has also introduced a new variant of the Verna sedan. A new S+ petrol variant has been added to the sedan's variant line-up. The new variant is powered by the 1.5-litre naturally-aspirated petrol engine mated to a manual gearbox as standard.

The S+ trim was previously available with a diesel engine option. The Verna Hyudai Verna S+ petrol variant retails at Rs 9.60 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). There are a few differences between the base-spec E and S+ trims of the sedan.

The features that are added to the S+ trim over the E spec model include a shark-fin antenna, 16-inch dual-tone steel wheels 195/55 tyre profile, a Sunglass holder, an 8-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Apple CarPlay, Android Auto along with the brand BlueLink connected technology.

It also features Arkamys sound system, a multifunction steering wheel with mounted controls, and a USB charging slot at the front. These are all the differences between the base-spec E and the new S+ petrol trim of the Verna sedan.

The 1.5-litre petrol engine on the S+ trim produces a maximum of 114bhp and a peak torque of 144Nm. The engine comes mated to a six-speed manual gearbox as standard.

Alongside the 1.5-litre petrol unit, Hyundai continues to offer other variants of the Verna sedan with diesel and turbo-petrol engine options. The 1.5-litre VGT diesel unit churns out 114bhp and 250Nm of torque. While the top-spec 1.0-litre, three-cylinder, turbo-petrol motor produce 118bhp and 172Nm of torque.

Transmission options include a six-speed manual or a six-speed torque converter with a 1.5-litre diesel unit, and a seven-speed DCT gearbox with paddle shifters for the 1.0-litre turbo petrol engine to offer maximum performance.

The Hyundai Verna is placed in the midsize sedan segment. The Verna rivals the fourth and fifth generations of the Honda City, Skoda Rapid, Volkswagen Vento, Maruti Suzuki Ciaz, and the Toyota Yaris in the Indian market.

Thoughts About The Hyundai Verna Getting New Feature Upgrades & Variant

Hyundai has added a new (USP) Unique Selling Point to its Vena sedan model by introducing wireless connectivity features. Buyers are more inclined towards having these connectivity features while purchasing a new car in the Indian market. This gives the Hyundai Verna an edge over its rivals in the most competitive sedan segment in the country.
