Hyundai Alcazar India Launch Postponed Due To Covid-19 Pandemic: Here Is The New Launch Timeline!

The Hyundai Alcazar launch in India has been postponed. The company has decided to delay the launch due to the surge in Covid-19 cases in the country. The Alcazar has been revealed recently in its production-ready guise in the country.

According to the report from Autocar India, the launch of the Alcazar was scheduled to happen on April 29th, 2021. However, due to the delay, the company is expected to launch the three-row SUV sometime in late May 2021.

The Hyundai Alcazar is essentially a three-row version of the brand's Creta SUV. The overall design of the upcoming three-row SUV resembles that of the Creta. However, there are subtle tweaks made to the new SUV.

Starting with the most substantial change on the inside with an additional row of seating. This has resulted in a longer wheelbase of 2,760mm — 150mm longer than the Creta. The upcoming SUV also features a larger overhang to accommodate additional boot space.

The exterior of the Alcazar features a slightly tweaked bumper and grille. The new SUV carries forward the split-style headlamp design with DRLs placed on top and the main headlamps placed on the bumper. The bumper also houses the fogs lamps, air-dam and faux skid plate.

From the side, the SUV's larger dimension is made prominent with the addition of a rear-quarter glass. The Alcazar also receives a new alloy-wheel design to tell it apart from its younger sibling. At the rear, the Alcazar received new wraparound taillights and a slightly up-right boot-lid.

As mentioned before, the Alcazar will feature three-row seating. These will be offered in two configurations: a 6-seater with captain seats in the second row and a 7-seater with a bench seat in the middle.

In both configurations, the second-row seats feature a one-touch tumble mechanism for easy ingress and egress to the third row. The third-row seating can be reclined to choose between comfort or enhanced boot space.

The interior of the Alcazar will be offered with a dual-tone scheme to offer a new and airy feel to the cabin. This is further enhanced by the inclusion of a panoramic sunroof. The captain seat variants are offered with a central armrest that features additional storage space and cup holders.

Other interiors features that are expected on the Alcazar SUV include a 10.25-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and Apple CarPlay along with Hyundai's connected technology, a fully digital instrument cluster, a 360-degree camera, wireless phone charger, automatic climate control and more. The third-row seats will be offered with air-con vents and speed control.

The Alcazar SUV will be offered petrol and diesel engine options. The new 2.0-litre 'NU' petrol engine is a four-cylinder DOHC naturally-aspirated unit. It produces a maximum of 157bhp and a peak torque of 192Nm.

On the other hand, the 1.5-litre diesel engine is the same four-cylinder turbocharged unit from the Creta. It produces a maximum of 115bhp and a peak torque of 250Nm. Both engines will be offered with a 6-speed manual and a 6-speed torque converter automatic.
