Honda Cars Price Hike Announced In India: Here Are The New Model-Wise Pricelist
Honda Cars India Limited have increased the prices of all its models sold in the Indian market. This includes the Honda Jazz, WR-V, Amaze and the fifth-generation City have been affected by the price increase.
A maximum price increase of Rs 20,000 has been issued, which varies depending on the model and the variant. The company has announced that the price increase is due to rise in input costs for manufacturing cars in the country.
Steel, which is a major component in the process of automotive manufacturing, has increased substantially in pricing over the past few months in the country. This is because of the rising domestic demand and iron ore prices, higher international prices and reduced production and limited imports.
Additionally, there is a major short supply of semiconductors starting during the Covid-19 pandemic. This has led to the rise in costs of chips needed in the production of vehicles. These are some of the factors that could have influenced automakers announcing a price hike on its entire model range.
Starting with the Honda Jazz, the premium hatchback is offered with a single petrol engine option. The engine comes mated to either a manual or a CVT automatic. All variants of the Jazz have received a price hike of Rs 5,000. After the price increase, the premium hatchback now retails between Rs 7.55 lakh and Rs 9.79 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).
Moving to the brand's compact-sedan, the Honda Amaze is offered in both petrol and diesel engine options. The company has issued the Amaze sedan with a price hike of Rs 5,000 across all variants except the top-spec diesel CVT trims. The Amaze petrol variants now retail between Rs 6.22 lakh and Rs 8.84 lakh. While the diesel variants cost between Rs 7.68 lakh and Rs 9.99 lakh.
Next up is the Honda WR-V, which is also available in both petrol and diesel engine options. Prices for the WR-V have also increased by Rs 5,000 across all varaints of the crossover. The petrol variants of the WR-V now costs between Rs 8.55 lakh and Rs 9.75 lakh. The diesel trims of the crossover now retail between Rs 9.85 lakh and Rs 11.05 lakh.
Lastly, the brand latest addition, the fifth-gen Honda City has received a price revision from the company. The entry-level and mid-spec trims prices of the sedan has gone up by Rs 10,000. However, the top-spec ZX trims in both engine options have received a price hike of Rs 20,000.
After the price hike, the fifth-gen Honda City petrol trims retail between Rs 10.99 lakh and Rs 14.64 lakh. While the diesel engine is offered only in three trims which now cost between Rs 12.49 lakh and Rs 14.84 lakh.
The fourth-gen City, which is still on sale alongside its successor model have not been affected by the price increase. According to the company, the old-gen City will cater to buyers looking to enter the sedan segment coming from smaller-segment hatchback models offering great value for money.
