Honda Cars India has announced that it will be extending the recall campaign announced last year. The company has now recalled over 77,000 units now. These models could have been affected by a possible faulty part inside the fuel pump.

As per the recall report, a total of 77,954 models could have a faulty impeller inside the fuel pump. As a precautionary measure, the company has decided to carry out preventive maintenance to curb the problem.

According to the report, models affected by the recall extension include the Amaze, 4th-gen City, WR-V, Jazz, Civic, BR-V, and the CR-V. Depending on the model, affected vehicles are manufactured between January 2019 to September 2019. However, the affected CR-V SUVs are produced between January 2019 to September 2020.

Here are the model-wise breakdown of affected car numbers: 36,086 units of the brand compact-sedan Amaze, 20,248 units of the City, 6,235 units of Jazz, 7 871 units of the WR-V, 1,737 units of the BR-V, 5,170 units of the Civic, and 607 units of the CR-V SUV have been recalled in India.

The fuel pumps installed in these vehicles may contain defective impellers. This could affect the fuel supply to the engine and could result in stopping or not starting. In return can damage a host of other parts involved in the combustion process.

The replacement of the faulty fuel pump will be carried out free of cost at the brand's dealerships across India. The recall will be done in a phase-wise manner starting from April 17, 2021. Owners will be contacted individually by the company for the recall.

Alternatively, customers can also check whether their cars are covered under this campaign. Honda has activated a new micro-site, which customer can visit and check their vehicle for recall. Once a customer visits the site, they will be asked to provide a 17-character alpha-numeric (VIN) Vehicle Identification Number and check if their vehicles are part of the recall.
