Ford & Mahindra Joint Venture Completely Ended: Engine & Platform Will Not Be Shared
Ford and Mahindra were all set to start a fruitful partnership in the Indian market. Both brands had decided to share engines, platform and technologies. However, due to reasons unknown, Ford and Mahindra decided to call off the joint venture.

Despite the JV being called off, it was expected that both brands will continue sharing the engine and platform. Now, Ford and Mahindra have even called off that as well. This means that the collaboration between both automakers has completely ended severing all ties.

Speaking of the C-SUV, it was reported that Ford will be using the same platform as the new-generation XUV500. It was internally called the project Black.
Additionally, the upcoming facelifted Ford EcoSport was supposed to borrow its powertrain options from Mahindra as well. The new Ford EcoSport was expected to receive the 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine that currently powers the Mahindra XUV300.

However, due to cutting ties with the Indian automaker, the American brand will be on its own in the Indian market. Ford is expected to use the platform from the Territory SUV, which is currently being sold in the Chinese market. Also, the upcoming Ford EcoSport facelift is expected to continue using the Dragon Series petrol and diesel engines.

On the other hand, the brand's flagship model, the next-generation XUV500 is also due for launch this year. The SUV will be receiving a host of updates inside and out. Based on the spy images, the new XUV500 will be receiving horizontally stacked displays for the instrument cluster and infotainment system that are placed next to each other.

Thoughts About The Ford & Mahindra Joint Venture Completely Ended
We were expecting a series of blockbuster launches by bringing the best of both brands to the table. However, the aspirations of an SUV buyer looking forward to the vehicles released under the joint venture has ended. This also means Ford is now on its own to find an engine to suit the upcoming C-SUV in India.
