Charzer & Omega Seiki To Setup 20,000 EV Charging Stations

An in house survey conducted by the companies found that electric autos could cover only two-thirds of the distance covered by those powered by fossil fuels. This leads to a loss of revenue for the drivers of the electric autos which is caused by a lack of charging options available on the go. The new partnership between Delhi-based Omega Seiki and Charzer aims to address this paint point by setting up over twenty thousand charging stations across the country.

Commenting on the partnership, Dheeraj Reddy, COO and Co-Founder, Charzer stated, "For any logistics company, finding and managing 'Park and Charge' EV hubs is capital intensive and requires extensive use of labour and workforce. Setting up these EV charging hubs is a major deviation from the core business of a logistics company. Besides this, drivers and companies lose a lot of valuable time in travelling to and fro to the hubs. This is where we come in. With Charzer, fleet owners can save up to 46% of their expenses and scale their fleet 10 times faster. Drivers can save up to 55 hours of redundant travel per month and earn 40% more income due to increased fleet uptime."

Omega Seiki Mobility currently has two commercial electric three-wheelers on sale in the country called the Rage and Rage+. Both the Rage and Rage+ are L5N category commercial vehicles and use lithium-ion battery packs. The powertrains and battery packs for both of these three-wheelers sport IP 65 ratings for dust and water resistance.

The Rage uses a 6kWh battery pack which is connected to an electric motor with a max output of 6.83bhp and 80Nm of torque. The Rage has a top speed of 45km/h and a range of 70 to 80 kilometres on a single charge. The Rage's battery pack charges up in 3 to 4 hours and the battery has a 2 year/50,000 kilometres (whichever is earlier) warranty. The Rage weighs in at approximately 400 kilogrammes.

The Rage+ is a heavier and more powerful three-wheeler. The battery pack of the rage+ is rated at 7.5kWh. The Rage+ uses the Rage's 6.83bhp and 80Nm motor and has the same range and charging times as the Rage. The Rage + is heavier at 480 kilogrammes and the battery pack has a longer warranty of 3 years/80,000 kilometres (whichever is earlier).

Charzer and Omega Seiki Mobility have tied up to help increase the charging infrastructure for the latter's electric vehicles. This push to put more electric vehicle chargers on the map will help accelerate the push towards electric vehicles in the field of last-mile logistics.
