Aprilia SR 160 Bookings Open - Launch Set For November 16
Italian two-wheeler manufacturer Aprilia has opened bookings for the new 2021 SR 160 scooter ahead of its launch on November 16. Customers looking to book the new Aprilia SR 160 can head to Aprilia's India website or at their local dealerships.
The teaser image of the Aprilia SR 160 shows off the scooter's new front-end design. The new SR 160 scooter from Aprilia features a redesigned headlight unit. The headlights along with the new daytime running lights are fully LED units.
The front apron of the new SR 160 has been redesigned as well and features the tricolour of the Italian flag embossed onto it. The new handlebar cowl sports vent-like recesses. The apron continues to house the turn indicators of the Aprilia SR 160.
The facelifted Aprilia SR 160 also features a split seat design, which is a big departure from the current single piece seat fitted to the current scooter. The scooter also features chunkier grab handles.
The new Aprilia SR 160 is also expected to feature a fully digital instrument panel similar to the ones found on other scooters from Piaggio's stable in India including the ones bearing the Vespa nameplate and the SXR branded maxi scooters.
The new digital display on SR 160 will bring Bluetooth connectivity. The display will sport a tachometer and will also give information regarding mileage, average speed, top speed, current speed, fuel metre, two trip Meters, odometer along with engine oil temperature, external temperature, ABS indicator, instant mileage, and many more pieces of information relevant to the rider.
The facelifted Aprilia SR 160 is not expected to feature any mechanical changes. The scooter will continue to draw power from a 160.03cc fuel-injected, single-cylinder engine that produces 10.84bhp and 11.60Nm of torque which is sent to the rear wheel via a CVT gearbox.
The Aprilia SR 160 features a steel frame with telescopic front forks at the front and a mono shock at the rear that help take care of the rough stuff. The Aprilia SR 160 sports a 160mm disc brake at the front while the rear is forced to come to a halt by a 140mm drum brake. The brakes are assisted by single-channel ABS. The SR 160 rides on 14-inch alloy wheels shod with 120/70 section tyres. The scooter sports a seven-litre fuel tank.
The Aprilia SR 160 currently starts at Rs 1.09 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi). We expect the facelifted version of the Italian scooter to sport a slightly more expensive price tag when it is finally launched on the 16th of November.
Thoughts On The Facelifted Aprilia SR 160
The facelifted Aprilia SR 160 is one of the quickest scooters currently sold in India. The 160cc scooter will sport a refreshed design. Though the cowl for the headlights looks to be assigned to the parts bin of history, the front end of the SR 160 from Aprilia retains its iconic beak-like design.
Considering most of the changes are only skin deep, we don't expect the SR 160 to ride any differently from the current scooter, which is a rather good thing.
