Audi Q5 Launched In India - Prices Start At Rs 58.93 Lakh

The facelifted Audi Q5 for India has ditched diesel power and is only offered with a 2.0-litre turbocharged petrol engine. The 2.0-litre, four-cylinder petrol engine in the facelifted Audi Q5 pushes out 245.4bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. The engine sends power to all four wheels via a 7-speed dual-clutch automatic gearbox and the iconic Quattro all-wheel-drive system.

The Audi Q5 comes with six driving modes - Efficiency Comfort, Auto, Dynamic, Individual and Off-road. Drives can switch between the different driving modes by using the menus on the infotainment display or the buttons on the dashboard. Selecting the Offroad mode will immediately activate the Hill Descent control while switching off the ESC. Individual mode allows drivers to tweak the throttle response and the steering feel.

The Audi Q5 for 2021 features very mild changes in terms of design. The front end of the facelifted Q5 SUV features a larger version of Audi's signature grille which now features vertical metallic slats and an octagonal shape. The LED lights have been revised as well and feature a new design. The LED taillights too sport a new design and are now connected by a shiny strip of metal. Other changes include larger 19-inch alloy wheels and new trim on the lower sections of the doors.

The changes inside are more notable. All of the new Q5 variants sport a larger 10.1-inch touchscreen infotainment display that features Audi's new Gen 3 MIB interface which brings with it a cleaner and smoother UI. The infotainment system supports both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and comes connected as standard to a 10-speaker sound system. The top-spec version of the Q5 gets an upgraded 755 watt, 19-speaker Bang & Olufson 3D Surround sound system which should keep music lovers satisfied.

Other features inside include 3 zone climate control, wireless charging for mobile phones, a panoramic sunroof, powered tailgate and the virtual cockpit (only for the top-spec variant) which features updated graphics and now sports a higher resolution. The new Q5 also gets Audi's new Digital Pass which allows owners to unlock and start their new SUV.

In terms of dimensions, the facelifted Audi Q5 remains unchanged. The new Q5 is 4,663mm long, 1,893mm wide and 1,653mm tall. The all-new SUV's wheelbase is 2,819mm long while the boot has a total volume of 550-litres.

The Audi Q5 comes packed with a host of safety features including eight airbags, front and rear parking sensors, parking assist, Hill Descent Control, anti-lock brakes, EBD, cruise control and tyre pressure monitoring system among others.

The Audi Q5 will go up against the likes of the Land Rover Discovery Sport, BMW X3, Mercedes GLC, and the Volvo XC60.

The facelifted Audi Q5 brings with it a few design tweaks along with a few technology updates while ditching its diesel powerplant. The facelifted Audi Q5 adds to the glut of SUVs in this segment and should prove to be quite an attractive prospect for the Indian luxury SUV buyer.
