10 New Tata Electric Vehicles To Be Launched By 2025: Aggressive Electrification Plan Revealed
Tata Motors is planning to launch 10 more EVs by 2025. This aggressive decision from the Indian car manufacturer comes as the automotive industry moves quickly toward the electrification of vehicles. This aggressive plan to launch more EVs was brought to light by the company's chairman N Chandrasekaran during the 76th annual report.
Tata Motors also have an advantage in this segment as the company already has experience in EVs with the likes of the Nexon EV, and Tigor EV. The sub-4-metre Tata Nexon EV is currently the country's highest-selling EV.
Along with this, Tata Motors is also working on developing charging infrastructure throughout the country, as it will address one of the biggest concerns of EV buyers. The brand is also looking at sourcing more battery packs for its EVs.
One of the biggest advantages of electric vehicles other than their green footprint is the cost of running. While intra-city commuters burn their wallets using conventionally powered vehicles, EV users in the city save a lot of money that would otherwise be spent in fuel costs and scheduled services.
Tata Motors sold almost 4,000 units of the Nexon EV during FY2021. Having planned to launch 10 EVs by 2025, it is safe to assume that Tata motors will also be focusing on setting up a state-of-the-art autonomous and connected-car technology development centre.
Tata Motors-owned JLR has planned to become an EV-only manufacturer by 2036. Jaguar will get a head start by becoming an EV-only brand by 2025. Tata Motors plans to become one of the world leaders in sustainable mobility, with the brand having a footprint in almost 150 countries and over 650 million customers globally.
However, the company's chairman did point out pandemic-related delays as one of the hurdles in the journey to introduce 10 EVs by 2025.
Thoughts On Tata Motors Launching 10 New Electric Vehicles By 2025
The decision to launch 10 EVs by 2025 could just be the most aggressive electrification plan ever put forward by an Indian manufacturer. With over 7,50,000 employees, Tata Motors definitely has the resources to become a global powerhouse in the EV segment.
