The deliveries of the T-Roc SUV has been delayed due to several reasons in India. According to the latest reports from TeamBHP, the SUV is yet to receive an ARAI certification. It has been delayed due to the nation-wide lockdown.

The certification required the manufacturer to complete certain kilometres of testing. The reports also suggest that the process is said to take 15-20 days to complete. The company is expected to start test drives and deliveries after it receives the ARAI certification. Upon checking with dealers regarding the T-Roc deliveries, they replied the reason to be a software issue.

The Volkswagen T-Roc features include LED projector headlamps with integrated DRLs, LED cornering lights and fog lamps, 17-inch alloy wheels, flared wheel arches, LED taillights, faux skid plates and a roof-mounted spoiler; among others.

On the Inside, it comes equipped with a 10.25-inch ‘virtual cockpit' digital instrument cluster, and another eight-inch touchscreen infotainment system that supports Android Auto and AppleCarPlay. Some of the other highlighted features include leather upholstery, a panoramic sunroof, dual-tone alloy wheels, automatic climate control, ambient lighting, push-button start/stop, multiple airbags, ABS with EBD, tyre pressure monitoring system and more.

The T-Roc is offered with a single engine and transmission option. It is powered by a 1.5-litre TSI turbo-petrol engine that produces a maximum power of 148bhp at 5000rpm, and 240Nm of peak torque at 1500rpm.

The engine comes mated to a seven-speed DSG automatic transmission unit as standard. Volkswagen claims that the T-Roc to accelerate from 0 to 100km/h in 8.4 seconds and continue to reach a top speed of 205km/h.

Volkswagen is importing the T-Roc SUV as (CBUs) Completely Built Units in the India market taking advantage of the new import rules in the country. New Indian import rules now dictate that companies can import 2,500 vehicles via the CKD and CBU channels per year, without the need for homologation. However, all imported vehicles have to meet International Automotive Standards.

The results in lesser import taxes and duties, that helps manufactures to price the products competitively. The company also plans to locally assemble the T-Roc in the country. It will further reduce the price by a substantial margin due to the lesser import tax attracted for (CKD) Completely Knock Down units. Volkswagen is expected to assemble the T-Roc at their Aurangabad facility.
