Upcoming Car Launches In January 2021: Here Is The Full List Of Cars Going On Sale In India In January
The year 2020 saw its fair share of new cars being introduced in the Indian market, especially during the second half. Keeping the momentum going, the start of 2021 seems to be action-packed as well. The first month of 2021 already has seven new car models scheduled to go on sale in the Indian market.
We've put together a list of all the models scheduled to go on sale in India in the month of January 2021. This list includes car models from across all segments of the Indian market. Here it is:
Tata Altroz Turbo
The Tata Altroz is the brand's first premium hatchback offering, introduced in India at the start of 2020. The premium hatchback over the course of the year has gained a lot of popularity in the segment bringing in good sales for the brand.
Now, the company is all set to update the Altroz lineup in January 2021, with the launch of a new turbo variant. The new Tata Altroz turbo will come powered by a new 1.2-litre turbo-petrol engine, borrowed from the Nexon.
The new turbo-petrol engine on the Altroz is said to produce 108bhp and 140Nm of peak torque, mated to a five-speed manual. There is also a new DCT transmission in the works, however, this is expected to be introduced at a later stage.
Jeep Compass Facelift
The new (2021) Jeep Compass facelift is all set to debut in India on the 7th of January 2021. Its launch, however, is rumoured to take place on the 26th of January, with bookings said to start in the coming weeks.
The new Compass facelift comes with a host of subtle cosmetic updates to its exteriors. However, its interiors do feature more significant changes, giving the SUV a more premium feel compared to the outgoing model.
Mechanically, the new Compass facelift will remain identical, powered by the same 1.4-litre turbo-petrol and 2.0-litre diesel units. Both offered with manual and automatic transmission options.
MG Hector Plus (Seven-Seater) & MG Hector Facelift
MG Motor India is set to make a couple of updates to its lineup in January 2021. First is the launch of the seven-seater Hector Plus SUV. The new Hector Plus will now come with bench seats in the second row, replacing the captain seats on the six-seater version.
The second update is the introduction of the facelifted version of the Hector. The MG Hector which was the brand's first product in India will come with a number of subtle cosmetic updates, both to its exteriors and interiors.
Mechanically, however, both the Hector Plus seven-seater SUV and the Hector facelift will remain identical. Both models will continue to be powered by the same 1.5-litre turbo-petrol with mild-hybrid and a 2.0-litre diesel unit.
Tata Gravitas SUV
Tata Motors is all set to introduce its new Gravitas SUV in the Indian market in January 2021. The Gravitas is essentially a seven-seater version of the Harrier SUV comes with a number of updates to its design, dimensions and interiors.
The Tata Gravitas was showcased at the 2020 Auto Expo and was supposed to go on sale in India earlier this year. However, the launch had to be delayed amidst the lockdown. Once launched in India, the new Tata Gravitas will rival the likes of the MG Hector Plus and the Mahindra XUV500.
Toyota Fortuner Facelift
Toyota will launch a facelifted version of its popular Fortuner SUV in the Indian market. The new Toyota Fortuner facelift SUV comes with a host of design updates, giving it a more aggressive and sporty look.
The company will also bring in the more powerful ‘Legender' version of the Fortuner SUV in the Indian market. The new facelift version and the Legender model will also feature plenty of updates on its interiors along with a slightly revised powertrain as well. This comes in the form of a more powerful 2.8-litre diesel producing 204bhp of peak power output.
New (2021) Audi A4 Sedan
Audi will start its aggressive sales push in 2021, with the new A4 sedan. The new Audi A4 sedan features a bunch of updates, both to its exteriors and interiors. The new Audi A4 will also feature a host of new features and connected technology, giving it a more premium look compared to the older model.
Audi has already started accepting bookings for the new sedan in the Indian market. The new A4 will be the brand's entry-level offering and will take on rival models such as the BMW 3 Series and the Mercedes-Benz C-Class. The new Audi A4 once launched in India will be powered by a 2.0-litre TFSI petrol unit, producing 187bhp.
BMW 3 Series Gran Limousine
BMW will be introducing their 3 Series Gran Limousine model in the Indian market in January 2021. The new 3 Series Gran Limousine is essentially a long-wheelbase version of the latest-generation 3 series sedan already on sale in the country.
The new 3 Series GL will come with longer length and wheelbase, allowing for improved cabin space on the inside. Apart from this, the long-wheelbase sedan will remain identical to the standard model, carrying forward the same features, equipment and engine options.
