Toyota Temporarily Halts Production At Its Bidadi Plant: Read More To Find Out
Toyota Kirloskar Motor (TKM) has announced that the company will be temporarily halting the production at its plant in Bidadi in Karnataka starting from July 14 (second shift) to July 22 (first shift). This has been done keeping in mind the rules and regulations issued by the Government to stop the spread of the Coronavirus.
Since the pandemic began, the company has adopted a very proactive and multi-faceted approach to safeguard the physical as well as the mental well-being of all its stakeholders including customers, its employees, dealer & supplier partners. TKM also ensured that its employees and their families received the required professional assistance for both physical and mental health, during the period of the lockdown.
The office staff at TKM's corporate and regional offices, continue to work from home to help mitigate risks until further notice. In addition to the safety protocols that are being followed, TKM has provided safety kits containing essential items like sanitizers, 3PLY masks and handwashes to 5000 employees, their family members and their neighbourhoods benefitting over 25,000 families, thereby looking out for the community as well.
In other recent Toyota news, the company recently increased the prices of their current flagship model the Vellfire MPV in the Indian market. The MPV has received a price increase of Rs 4 lakh. The reason behind the price hike was due to the rise in exchange rates, which will have an adverse effect on the models that are being brought into the Indian shores via the (CBU) Completely Built Route.
The company had launched the Vellfire premium luxury MPV in the India market earlier this year for Rs 79.50 lakh. However, after the recent price increase, the MPV now retails at a starting price of Rs 83.50 lakh for the ‘Executive Lounge' variant. All prices mentioned are ex-showroom (India).
The Vellfire is powered by a 2.5-litre hybrid petrol engine. It produces a maximum power of 115bhp at 4700rpm and 198Nm of peak torque between 2800rpm and 4000rpm. The engine comes mated to an e-CVT transmission.
Thoughts About Toyota Putting A Halt To Its Production Plant
By doing this, the company will make sure that no staff is working from the plant as there is a lot of risk due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Employees are told to work from home, which will help stop the spread of the virus as the company will be following the social distancing norms.
