Now, the popular MPV has received a much-required mid-cycle facelift, featuring a number of subtle changes, along with a price revision. So, here's how the new Toyota Innova Crysta compares to its predecessor.

Design

The new Toyota Innova Crysta facelift carries forward the same overall design and silhouette as its predecessor, without any major changes. What has changed though is the front-end. The new Toyota Innova Crysta now comes with a slightly refreshed front profile.

This includes a new trapezoidal front grille, finished in piano black. The grille is surrounded by chrome, which inserts into the headlamp cluster as well on either side. The front end now also features triangular housing for the fog lamps, while featuring a slightly reworked front bumper as well.

Apart from the changes to the front end, the new Toyota Innova Crysta now features a new set of 16-inch diamond-cut alloy wheels, new gloss black spoiler at the rear and skid plates at both ends. Toyota has also introduced a new paint scheme on the MPV, called Sparkling Black Crystal Shine.

No other changes have been made on the new Toyota Innova Crysta. The MPV continues to feature the same styling on the side and rear profile, without any updates. However, with the reworked front end, the MPV now does offer a more mature look than its predecessor.

Interiors & Features

The new Toyota Innova Crysta also comes with a subtly updated dashboard as well. While the entire cabin remains unchanged, the new Innova Crysta does offer an optional Camel Tan upholstery on the top-spec ‘ZX' trim. Lower trims now feature an all-black cabin.

However, the main update comes in the form of a new infotainment system. The 2021 Toyota Innova Crysta facelift now features a 9-inch touchscreen display with ‘Smart Playcast', which offers Apple CarPlay, Android Auto and connected technology; all of which were missing on the previous versions of the MPV.

In terms of safety, the new MPV now features front clearance sonar, that helps prevent collision during tight parking spaces, by showing up a warning on the MID. Other than this, all other safety features have been carried forward from the old model. Some of the standard safety features on the Toyota Innova Crysta include seven airbags, ABS with EBD, electronic stability control and hill-start assist; among many others.

Engine & Transmission

The engine and transmission options on the new Toyota Innova Crysta facelift have been carried forward from its predecessor, without any changes or updates. The new Innova Crysta continues to be powered by the same 2.7-litre petrol and 2.4-litre diesel units, both of which were recently updated to comply with the BS6-emission norms.

The 2.7-litre petrol engine produces 164bhp and 245Nm of peak torque, mated to a five-speed manual and a six-speed automatic transmission. The 2.4-litre diesel churns out 148bhp and 343Nm when paired to the five-speed manual gearbox and 360Nm when mated to the six-speed torque-converter unit.

Pricing

The new Toyota Innova Crysta facelift MPV is now available in a range of three variants: GX, VX and ZX. The new variants now come with a starting price of Rs 16.26 lakh, while the top-spec trim is priced at Rs 24.33 lakh. All prices are ex-showroom (Delhi).

This compared to the prices of its predecessor is an increase of around Rs 60,000. The old MPV was offered with a starting price of Rs 15.67 lakh, ex-showroom (Delhi).

Rivals

The new Toyota Innova Crysta facelift continues to rival the same competitors in the MPV segment in India. These include the Maruti Suzuki Ertiga, Mahindra Marazzo, Renault Triber and the Datsun GO+.
