Toyota Corolla Altis & Etios Range Discontinued In India: What Will Cab Aggregators Choose?
Toyota has discontinued the Corolla Altis and the Etios range of models in the Indian market. All engines powering the aforementioned models have not been updated to meet BS6 emission standards by the company.
The Toyota Corolla (premium sedan), the Platinum Etios (compact-sedan), the Etios Liva (hatchback), and the Etios Cross (crossover-hatchback) models have been removed from the company's official website. As a result, the Toyota Glanza and the Yaris become the only hatchback and the entry-level sedan, respectively from the brand's Indian line-up.
The decision to discontinue the Corolla Altis from the brand's line-up could be because of low sales numbers registered by the premium sedan. The Etios sedan and hatchback models in the line-up was a popular choice among fleet and cab aggregators because of its low maintenance and reliable engines.
While we wonder what the cab and fleet aggregators will choose next as their ideal hatchback or sedan, here is a quick lowdown on all the models that have been discontinued by Toyota.

The Toyota Corolla Altis was offered with two engine options: a 1.4-litre turbo-diesel producing 87bhp and 205Nm of torque, and a 1.8-litre petrol producing 138bhp and 173Nm of torque. Both engines came mated to a standard six-speed gearbox, with an optional automatic on the petrol variants.
Thoughts About The Toyota Corolla Altis & Etios Range Discontinued In India
We will surely miss these cars as they were among a set of low-maintenance cars that offered unmatched reliability as far as engines were concerned. The Toyota Corolla was one among the popular cars in the premium sedan segment, however, the demand for the model has dropped substantially. While Toyota have removed their models (Etios range) for commercial use Maruti Suzuki have increased their presence by adding more models to its ‘Tour' range which is targeted towards cab aggregators.
