Tata Gravitas Interiors Revealed While Testing Again Ahead Of Launch: Spy Pics & Details
Tata Motors will be launching the new three-row SUV in the country called the Gravitas. The company had showcased the SUV at the 2020 Auto Expo in its pre-prodcution form. Since then, the Gravitas has been spied testing several times in the country confirming features expected in its final production form.
Latest spy images from Carwale showcases the interior of the Gravitas SUV. The images reveal a few features that are similar to the once seen on the pre-production model showcased at the Expo. This includes the large floating touchscreen display placed in the centre of the dashboard.
The Gravitas is essentially a three-row variant of the Harrier SUV that is currently sold in the Indian market. As a result, the Gravitas will feature similar styling and equipment, most of which are borrowed from the Harrier.
This can be clearly seen from the spy images as the Gravitas test mule sports similar multifunction steering with mounted controls, a (MID) Multi-Information Display with analogue dials places on either side, climate control stack, and a rotary dial for drive mode selection; among others.
However, the Gravitas seems to be missing the manual parking brake of the Harrier. It has been replaced by an electronic parking brake along with an auto-hold function on the Gravitas SUV. The test mule also does not feature a sunroof of any form. The stepped-roof design of the Gravitas could force the manufacturer to give a more conventional sunroof as compared to the panoramic unit on the Harrier.
The change in rear design could have been done to accommodate more headroom for the third-row passengers. The Gravitas SUV is 62mm longer than the standard Harrier and could make for a roomier third-row.
The engine and transmission options on the Gravitas will also be borrowed from the Harrier SUV. This includes a BS6-compliant 2.0-litre, four-cylinder, ‘Kryotec' diesel engine that churns out 168bhp and 350Nm of torque.
It comes mated to a standard six-speed manual gearbox, with an optional six-speed automatic. We expect the same powertrain options to be offered on the Gravitas SUV with a slightly higher state of tune to support the extra weight.
Once launched, the Tata Gravitas will rival the Mahindra XUV500 and the MG Hector Plus in the Indian market. However, a couple of brands such as Hyundai, Kia and Jeep are currently working on a three-row SUV model and are expected to arrive sometime next year in the market.
Thoughts About The Tata Gravitas Interiors Revealed
Tata Motors is expected to make few changes to the Gravitas's cabin to tell it apart from the Harrier model. The company has replaced the manual handbrake to a more convenient electronic unit. We expect more convenient and electronically-assisted features to make its way to the Gravitas, which will be revealed at the time of launch.
