Tata Gravitas India Launch Delayed To Early-2021: Here Are All The Details
Tata Motors has been working on introducing their new Gravitas SUV in the Indian market for quite a while now. The Tata Gravitas SUV was initially expected to go on sale sometime during this year's festive period. However, the launch of the SUV has now been delayed to early-2021.

Reports from Autocar India confirms that the seven-seater SUV offering from the Indian carmaker will go on sale early next year. Once launched in the Indian market, the Tata Gravitas will be the brand's flagship model, positioned above its Harrier sibling.

As per reports, the delay in the launch of the Tata Gravitas is mainly due to the COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown, which heavily disrupted its plans for 2020. The lockdown further caused a supply disruption as well, which further forced Tata Motors to push the launch plans of the Gravitas to 2021.

As mentioned many times before, the Tata Gravitas is essentially an extended seven-seater version of the Harrier SUV. The new Gravitas is said to be 63mm longer and 80mm taller than the Harrier, while retaining the same 2741mm wheelbase. This extension in dimensions on the Gravitas allows it to accommodate a third-row of seating.

In terms of design, the Tata Gravitas carries forward the same styling as the Harrier until the B-pillar. The rear though has been modified with a stepped roof and a larger overhang. The profile at the back has also been slightly redesigned on the Gravitas which does help differentiate between the two models.

Tata Motors is also said to offer different alloy wheel design and a slightly revised colour palate, which will further help in differentiating it from its sibling.

Having said that, the Tata Gravitas will come powered by the same 2.0-litre Kryotec diesel engine, which does duty on the Harrier. The engine will also produce identical power and torque figures of 172bhp and 350Nm of peak torque. The engine will further come mated to either a six-speed manual or torque-converter automatic transmission unit.

Thoughts On The Tata Gravitas India Launch Plans Being Delayed
The Tata Gravitas has been a much-awaited product from the brand in the Indian market. Once launched in India, the Tata Gravitas will rival the likes of the Ford Endeavour, Toyota Fortuner, Mahindra Alturas G4 and a few others as well.
